Cory171
I installed leo on this chipset i am using sata>ahci for my sata drive to boot THe sound i use an azaila audio patch from tiger and realtek r1000 pkg from my tiger install. But i dont know about the integrated grtaphics because i am using a pci-e card radeon x1650 pro with device id 17c1 and maclovin's patch To get CI/QE. Every thing work except the ata is preety slow but the ahci sata is fine. The setup Can be a little buggy with only occasional application crashing but every thing else good. woy
is there a difference with 690v? i used JaS 10.4.8 it didnt even start booting... got 690v sb600 board with sata ahci enabled hdd... sound is phase 22 terratec... graphics hd2600 pro... what version should i use? kalyway? DVD kalyway 10.4.10 run in native in SB600. native instead of ahci? because the readme says Attention: This DVD is designed for Intel architectures SSE3 HPET Only !!! so i am cool with amd x2 6000+ right? all i want is final cut studio to run update: i used kalyway 10.4.10 but it stopped at darwin kernel 8.8.1 no error message Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75077-amd-690g-sb600-compatibility/#findComment-559718 Share on other sites
woy
update ok i got the installation process to work using vmware but i encountered a new problem... right now i wanted to format the partition vmware is running and it gave me mistakes... i have one physical hdd... whats the best way to partition them so i have vista/osx86 dual boot? ok i encountered another problem... i have 3 partitions... one with vista one osx86 and one where vmware is running... i started vmware ...booted up kalyway.... started the disk utility and tried to format the osx86 partition... but nothing happened... couldnt format couldnt mount it... tried the same with an ide drive... disconnedted dvd drive and connected an ide hdd... used vmware again and when i came to the installation process again i couldnt mount or format anything help needed... worth mentioning... when booting up the iso.. i get the still waiting for root device... but after a few seconds it boots up anyway... then when i use the mac disc utility my hdd is fully recognized but as an vmware virtual drive... is this what the indepedent / persistent setting does? i guess my problem is that kalyway doesnt recognize my southbridge properly and therefore i am not able to format nor mount my hdd... my next step would be to get a new kext file and patch it into the iso... but how do i do that... and what file do i need? and i use kalyway with IntelSSE3 + V1.1_AMD&SSE2_Patch+fixes by the way... b4rtsimps0n
I have Leopard 10.5.2 running on the 690g chipset with a 250gb maxtor sata hdd. 3 partitions, 1 for windows, 1 for mac os x and 1 for storage. Azalia audio package made the sound work, and I use a geforce 8500 gt pci-e card which i got working with nvinject 0.2.0. I do have to change the bios settings (AHCI - IDE) before I can boot up windows. Mac OS X works fine, runs smooth and fast write speeds to the hdd (used ntfs-3g to write to my windows ntfs partitions btw). I only have some problems with certain programs. All the programs from iLife 08 seem to crash, make the OS just freeze completely so I have to use the restart button on my PC. If someone knows how to fix that, it would help me a lot. Houbos
I tried to install Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.1 for AMD SSE2/SSE3 (32bits). 320GB SATA with three used partitions doesn't work, maybe i should format whole drive, but i have data on it. It says "Still waiting for the root device" at the beginning of install (black screen with white characters). I have an IDE DVD drive. Problem partly solved. Recently i bought a cheap 7GB PATA (IDE) drive for test. It found this disc and also my USB mp3 player (i could install on it). Installation took about 5 hours and i got error "INSTALLATION FAILED. MAC OS X COULD NOT BE INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER" at 100% of installation (it can be badly burned DVD, as i found on forum, but i doubt, at 100%.). I tried it twice, 10 hours! You say that IDE is very slow on this MOBO, right? Is there anyone who succeeded to install 10.5? Maybe I'll try to buy some SATA DVD drive (it cant find any hard drive when i install from IDE). Thanks for any replies. I apologize for my crappy English. >> woy- 690V has got graphic card X1200, 690G has X1250. Both are useless for any 3D. 69 V is also missing overclocking features in BIOS (depend on manufactorer). Houbos
>> b4rtsimps0n - Which version do you have? How did you install OSX, I mean USB, SATA or PATA DVD drive? PATA does not work for me when I'm trying to install onto a SATA HDD. Thanks in advance. EDIT: No need of SATA drives at all. If you have "Still waiting for the root device" message on the desktop, try to change jumpers on IDE drives. In new Zephyroth 10.5.2 REV2 should everything work as it's supposed to be. In REV1 installer (and Disk Utility) wouldn't find any drives. EDIT: In REV2 i can't get throught "Still waiting for the root device". It's obviously unsupported chipset. nubusy
My experience with asus M2A-VM (HDMI) : DVD Installer : Kalyway 10.5.2 CPU: X2 4600+ (o/c to 2.8GHz) Mem: 2x1GB DDR2-800 PCIe: asus Nvidia 7300LE/S HDD: SATA 250GB DVD-RW: SATA Need: Set the SATA mode to AHCI (Nothing else works) and set the options before installing according to the hardware (Graphic Card). DON'T forget to check the AMD support box (the bottom most option). This is critical). I haven't tried the on-board x1250 (690G) VGA. Everything seems to work. LAN 1000mbps, Sound (Out), USB, IEEE Firewire (not test), Sleep okay but it doesn't really sleep justpower-off VGA and LAN (need to re-DHCP after waking up) thepower supply, CPU, and HDD still run. My other OSX86 Leopard tests: Asus X80LE Notebook : Kalyway 10.5.2 x3100 Graphic works perfectly. LAN 1000Mbps, Sound RT660, USB all work okay. Wi-fi not. Boot up is very very slow, about 4minutes after that it is fast with Celeron M540 1.8GHz. I tried other installation DVD too, but I feel that I prefer Kalyway. Thank you all for the info in this forum and other forums... Nubusy from Thailand. PS : all my IDE (PATA) drives (HDD and DVD) won't work at all. Gaal Dornik
I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my IDE IBM Fireball Quantum 20GB, it took bout 4 hours... after this system was too f-ing slowly - transfer speed 0.4MB/s. Then i bought SATA 640 WD Black 32MB Cache, it takes only 7 minutes now (fast as hell). By the way, it was the only hack-distr (Kalyway) that detected my IDE HDDs... My motherboard is Gigabyte MA-790X-DS4 (AMD 790X + SB600) evr works.
