People in my apartment complex have been throwing out old P3 computers with decent hard drives and ram the past couple of months. I have collect 5 of them to date, and have given 4 of them away to kids ranging from 7 to 15 for school, and as an added bonus, if they live within 300 feet of my apartment, I buy them a cheap wireless NIC and let them use my internet and printer for school. It is truly amazing how much you can improve a child's interest in learning by just giving them the tools that makes it fun. And that was with someones garbage. And on top of it, I am giving them a learning experience about computers, I load Ubuntu on there for them, so they are starting off right with Linux and open source. Just my good deed to the world thats all...
