oxigeno5
Does OS X run on the P5B VM SE? I tried most install DVDs without any success... How did you install OSX? Yea, the trick to solve the blinking at startup after installation, is to "zero erase" the hard drive using disk utility on the disk install. The only thing is my sound doesn't work and neither my networking. The only thing is my sound doesn't work and neither my networking. hello guys, i try with Calyway Leopard and with Jas 10.4.8, but i keep getting this error.... system config file /com.apple.boot.plist not found With other motherboard and with the jas dvd everything are ok, but with P5B-VM, i get nothing. What is the "zero erase" expression, format? Because the H.D is not formating, it has data(xp)....does this have to do with something???? Thanx! yaku
Emilios, try using an external DVD drive USB/SATA. There is no problem with the installers but with the JMICRON controller. I should have bought Gigabyte mobo instead of this ASUS P5B-VM which has a lot of negative feedbacks. Good luck! substitute79
Hello, I am having problems getting sound to work, everything else is great. I have tried AzaliaAudio.pkg but had no luck. I installed Kalway 10.5.1. I also have to have the DVD in when booting, I understand this is because I am using a partitioned drive. My spec is m/b: Asus P5b-VM CPU: 2.66 (reported as 3.8!) GFX: ATI 2600XT mem: 2gb I am amazed how fast OSX runs compared to vista! Thanks in adavance. Jason Armadillo
Howdy Hackintoshers, I just built a system around the Asus P5B-VM mobo. I get no image on the monitor when I power it on. Shouldn't there be some kind of image on the screen even with no OS installed? I've re-seated all the RAM, checked all my connections, the green LED on the mobo lights up. I just don't know what could be wrong. Any chance the clock battery would cause trouble? System specs: Asus P5B-VM Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Buffalo 1gb PC2-6400 x4 XFX Geforce 7600GT Pioneer DVR-212 SATA Seagate Barracuda 500gb SATA Thermaltake 600w Power Supply Lian-Li PC-A05B case Also, do I need a PS/2 keyboard to get into the BIOS or will a standard Apple USB keyboard work? Any info or advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Jason Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74774-asus-p5b-vm-and-leopard/page/2/#findComment-649004 Share on other sites
Jason Armadillo
Nevermind, figured out the problem was the Asus website gave me the wrong CPU info for the mobo. The E6550 is not compatible with the P5B-VM. msantoso
hi all, just tried my built in network card on Asus P5B-VM DO (Intel 82566DM) connected to linksys router and want to sync to my AppleTV, just realised it doesn't get an IP address (but the AppleTV got an IP). i'm quite sure it's working on Jas 10.4.8. what kext should replace? IONetworkingFamily.kext maybe? anyone with P5B-VM DO ? distance between the Mac - Router - AppleTV so far and couple of walls, so only get 100kbps transfer rate in activity monitor so looking for wired option. msantoso
2days ago, just installed ToH releas, pc efi 8.0 and update to 10.5.3. To conclude, the system seems snappier and much more stable. Thanks for LastExile for helping w/ Natit and Efi (more info available at netkas.org, including detailed instruction how to upgrade to 10.5.3). Running vanilla kernel from 10.5.3 update and also 10.5.3 AppleSMBios.kext from update. Restart and shutdown working but have to wait around 10-15secs after black screen. No worries. Sleep working but after awake wireless logitech keyboard and mouse not working, no worries since the comp never off. In Tiger 10.4.10, it was recognised as mac pro in system profiler, but now unrecognised. Not a big deal. Usb performance much faster. Also HDD transfer rate also much better. But i notice the temperature also increase, previously max 41, now 48. And notice it didn't put to sleep either. So i installed noctua 9cm fan to help with the heat. Now it's around 28-32. Edit: my spec: Core 2 Quad Q6600 P5B-VM DO 2Gb Corsair Twin2XGeCube ATI 2600XT 256Mb DDR4 320Gb SATA-II and 1Tb SATA-II Teac DVD-RW IDE TP-Link TP-651G Native Airport Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74774-asus-p5b-vm-and-leopard/page/2/#findComment-772027 Share on other sites
