Cybaster
Hello, i have just installed Leopard with EFI v7.3 and after the install, I use -v to check to see why it wouldn't boot. I get a repeated "Package 0 didn't get an HPET" Am I doing something wrong? I used EFI v7.3 installed with BrazilMac on GPT Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74281-help-leopard-stuck-on-package-0-didnt-get-an-hpet/ Share on other sites
sladeslade
yer, been there, done that well, it's a weird thing... you can resolve this error quite easily, just remove the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement file out of the extensions folder, but... it seems like that's not the reason your computer freezes >> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=74268 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74281-help-leopard-stuck-on-package-0-didnt-get-an-hpet/#findComment-524670 Share on other sites
Alwayon
Exactly likes sladeslade said, just remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and it will go away. ... And likes he said again, it may not be the real reasons your installation freeze. I guess... after doing this ... you may run into some other problem likes .... "Waiting for root device" which is the real cause of freeze. If it is so, please kindly check that you are already in AHCI Mode. InorganicMatter
Man, read the damn sticky (it's stuck there for a reason), I answer this question no less than once a day! You have to delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. Cybaster
I would read the sticky if it showed up with the search. I've searched for this problem far and wide and saw 1 post with the exact name WITHOUT using the search function. The Search Function just returned {censored} or didn't return anything at all, EVEN the prhase is exactly the same (and using RegEx to make sure it search for the exact phrasing) anyways using -v i still see Package 0..... HPET a few times just that now it won't be stuck I've replaced dsmos.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext, removed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and AppleEFIRuntime.kext now I cannot shutdown the hackintosh without hard-reset button. but i wonder if that is due to the vanilla kernel vs the ToH sleep kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74281-help-leopard-stuck-on-package-0-didnt-get-an-hpet/#findComment-524971 Share on other sites

acidd22
I have the same problem with HPET. i removed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, and instead of getting the HPET error, it just stops while loading. I've tried -v and -v -x with the same results. I also notice AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.orig. I tried renaming this to .kext, but got the HPET. error. This started after i went from Kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 with Combo Update.
