Well first fix the real problems, the release is rather useless if you have to boot with cpus=1 to fix the network freeze Problem!

 

Work on that, before you are going to release a new DVD.

 

This one works perfectly except for that annoying part.

MB Biostar with AMD 690G chipset (integrated video ATI x1250)

4000+ (Brisbane, overckloced to 5600+)

Network (LAN) right now from the box!!

Video just 1024x768, sound is absent - but it is only my first experience!

Set up on old IDE Seagate 8 GB HDD (as a slave to IDE DVD-ROM) because setting to SATA Seagate Barracuda 250 GB on the third primary partition after XP and Linux I have got some strange problem with formatting that partition to HFS+. It is can not be formatted - only FAT32!!! What is a point?! Should I install OSx86 only on first primary partition to be able to format it to HFS+? Or should I give all SATA HDD under HFS+?

Zeph, Thanks so much for releasing the AMD version of leopard.

 

I downloaded Leopard AMD 10.5.1 from the bay. When I insert the DVD and boot, the system hangs in mid-way not even reaching the installation menu.

 

The last 24 lines on the screen:

Ok, So After getting the kernel panic, I did what someone said to do a few posts back....

 

i booted with -s and deleted the geforce.kext

 

But I am still getting a kernel panic, someone els told me to boot with -x and delete all geforce/nvidia .kext's or whatever...

 

so I tried booting with -x (safe mode) and it just keeps looping, im not getting anywhere

 

It makes me press a few buttons on my keyboard, makes me choose keyboard type/language, it asks to transfer information from another mac (i choose no) and then it goes all the way back to the keyboard thing again, and it will not stop doing this.....

 

Can someone please help me out here? im getting desperate

Zephyroth: thank you for the release and great work!. I have an 6000+X2 to test this. I have perfectly installed the OS but after the reboot, the system just stop. For what I have read and seen, it looks like there is some panic problems with the Nvidia kexts. If you or anyone here could help me, will be appreciated a lot!. There is the messages I get from this.Some spec6000+ X2 AM2MSI K9N SLI Platinum8 Gb RAMGeForce 7300GS1 IDE 60Gb primary, 3 SATA 250 GB for data.The motherboard has integrated audio: 8 channels High definition by Realtek.If anyone take the bother to help me, please be a little explicit, I am beginning in OSX. Delete all the Geforce/Nvidia Kexts with -s mode, then just boot up normally without any option.It should work like that. Inside of Leopard make sure to try Natit, if it doesn't work properly with QE/CI and everything, then you might need a few patched kexts of those.

For those of you still having troubles here are a few things ive had to do to get this working on my system:

 

start first boot after install in safe mode (-x)

delete all nvidia/Geforce kext's in "System/Library/Extension"

goto "System/Library/LaunchDaemons" and edit the two "com.apple/mDNSresponder......"files (forget the entire name but theres only two- youll see em)

 

in those files i hade to change this section:

<key>Label</key>

<string>com.apple.mDNSResponder</string>

<key>OnDemand</key>

<false/>

<key>ProgramArguments</key>

<array>

 

to this:

 

<key>Label</key>

<string>com.apple.mDNSResponder</string>

<key>Disabled</key>

<true/>

<key>ProgramArguments</key>

<array>

Then repaired disk permissions, rebooted into normal mode, installed NV40.mpkg from Tubgirls 10.4.10 DVD,

 

rebooted into safe mode again- repaired the disk permissions (also did "detect displays" in system preferences)

set my account to auto-login (otherwise it would freeze trying to load the login window)- then reboot into normal mode, and everything is working..

 

I also deleted all my ati kexts, itunes phone driver.kext, and ipod kext... dont need em..

 

My System:

 

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2.2ghz (socket 939)

Nvidia 7900GT/KO 256mb

ABit KN8-Ultra NF4 board

SATA II 320GB HDD

2GB Ram

 

 

EDIT: Also after installing , booting into safe mode, and deleting kexts and editing mDNSresponder plist's- then repairing disk, i booted back into tiger and used disk utility to MAKE A BACKUP IMAGE OF MY LEOPARD DRIVE= its much quicker now if i need to format and reinstall- not the no fun stuff is already done at install

Thanks puttabong!. I tried deleting the kexts, and now I am able to boot with no problem. I am concerning now with the keyboard issue that does not work. I will try fix this later and pray for working. I will post and thanks again! ;)

Hey I'm actually having the same problem you had but when I type in what you have there changing leopard to what I named my partition it tells me that its an illegal operation? Do you know of any way to fix this? I'm hoping this will fix my mouse so I can get through the welcome screen I got my keyboard working earlier using parts of the JaS Mac 10.4

I do not know if it is necesary, but just in case that you are in the PS2 problem like I was, I used as described by banan2006 in post #494. It works for me:just as he claim, there is a capital missing. Here is the line I used:

 

cp -Rf /System/Libraries/Extensions/ApplePS2controller.kext /Volumes/Leopard/System/Libraries/Extensions/

thanks zepyroth for this release, after reading this thread I ende up installing leopard

my specs:

amd 3500 cpu

mobo: msineo4

video: gforce 6200tc

harddisk: 250G WD

 

I have a ps2 keyboard and mouse

 

So just started up the dvd , installed leopard ( drive formatted by my tiger fdisk uitlity)

after installing started dvd again and in terminal copied ApplePS2Controller.kext from DVD to leopard volume;

removed Geforce and NVa kexts and rebooted

after rebooting imported user (a guest account fresh created on my tiger)

everything worked

 

 

now only have to look to install titan or something like that, because when I tried this solution:http://rapidshare.com/files/72992251/leo_vid_kexts.zip.html

I get messages about geforce.kext and others kext not installed properly, although I repaired permissions, but nevermind I'm already very happy to have a working leopard (posting now from leopard)

Any Updates concerning the fixed LAN kexts?

 

roisoft nicely tried to help me to fix the problem, however,

the kexts he suggested cause Kernel Panics and make the system unbootable for me.

 

Gladly I used backups so I am back in my rock solid cpus=1 Configuration with the working kexts.

 

Looking forward to a 100% working Solution by zephyroth himself!

Great News for all (!) GeForce 8series owners! Geforce 8800GT/GTS (g92) and 8600.. My GeForce 8500GT works flawlessly with CE/QI on Zephyroth's release!

Don't think I'm whining.. :P but still can't get that ethernet stop causing system freezes.. I tried everything. but I think we'll figure this out somehow.

The Net Freezing problem remains.

 

Zephyroth didn't have the time to fix it yet, so we are all waiting for the proper Kexts!

 

As a TEMPORARY Solution: BOOT UP with cpus=1 and put it as a kernel flag in your boot.plist! Your System will never freeze with only 1 Core, it will run rock solid.

 

I hope that it's going to be fixed very soon, I just want to use my 2 cores!
