Objection
Does it boot in safe mode? What kext is it panicing on? Boot leopard with the "-x -v" flags, see if you boot. If it panics, let us know what file. If it doesn't then try again with just "-v" and again let us know what file. iScott
I installed the Kalyway disc that makes your HD bootable so the only way to use -x -v mode is to put the install disc in the drive, when I do that it wants to install leaopard. I had the same problem when I first installed Tiger 10.4.8, so I used 10.4.10 and that installed perfect. It has to be a kext that it doesn't like, any suggestions? If Pentium D is supported by vanilla kernel, you could probably install PC_EFI, then boot. But I think Pentium D needs hacked kernel. iScott
Yeah I need the hacked version, which isn't problem to me. I just want to get it running. The install went great, I don't even have to leave the disc in, but it is just that damn "you must restart your computer" that is stopping me. Has anyone had this problem? Well if you boot with -v, it would give us some clue where you are getting stuck. iScott
How do I boot with -v? If I want to do any kind of boot change I have to use the install disc and that just goes to install mode, I don't get any errors. If I just boot off the HD I get the Darwin loading and then it goes to the gray apple screen then the You must restart your computer screen. Objection
There's a brief second between "Loading Darwinx86..." and "Starting Darwinx86" when you can hit f8 to enter boot options. Basically mash f8 as it starts up =P Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73091-leopard-installed-but-wont-load/#findComment-517557 Share on other sites

Edit (easiest from a Tiger install) \Library\Preferences\SystemConfiguration\com.apple.Boot.plist Add: <key>Timeout</key> <string>10</string> save the file Reboot and it will give you time to push keys.
