Proteo
It runs just fine. The more RAM you can have, the better.

Special-K
Does Final Cut Studio actually run really great on a MacBook? Cause I'm looking towards the MacBook Pro since it's got dedicated graphics, but if it runs great on a MacBook, why bother?
Proteo
Define what's "great" for you. It will run fine, it's OK for casual use and even for regular use might be enough if most things you do are simple (no piles of layers and effects, HD video or 3 hours timelines). However if you need it for serious production, a MBP is definitively the way to go.
Special-K
Good to know, I'll look towards the MBP then.
skyhighmac
Yeah, for serious video, look at the mbp. Some of the motion stuff and good 3d effects won't work. Also, rendering times are better on the mbp.
MacX
I use my Macbook for some newbie FCS2. But a Mac Pro ( wait till updated ) then get that or a MBP.a -MacX
MrShankly
I use an old 1.67 powerbook and run FCP 2.0 fine. Granted, it gets a little frustrating when rending multiple layers (especially in HD) but as the previous poster said for casual use it will be fine.
