kris0l0gy
Hello all! I'm new, and thank you in advance for any advice I may receive. I'm on an iBook G4 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 (1.2). After installing the Mac OS X Update (PowerPC) 10.4.11 my screen is incredibly grainy. I noticed it immediately. Here are a few screen captures... grainy screen one grainy screen two I ran the Apple Hardware Test and everything came back clean. No errors. So this is software? I reset the PRAM and there was no change. I ran the repair permissions under Disk Utility, then I downloaded the OSX Update again and still no change. Any advice? I'm about to get on the phone sometime soon with Apple support if I can't figure this out on my own. Thanks again!
erbic
Um, those screens look pretty damn clear to me. It might be your LCD panel dying, even though the Hardware Test says otherwise. I doubt the .11 update triggered this in any way, it's just bad timing that it happened.
Cubric
have you checked the settings for your screen? ie the colour settings?
kris0l0gy
i ran a bunch more tests, and still nothing was turning up. so what i did was i changed my screen settings to thousands of colors and 800x600 to see if that made a difference. then changed it back to millions of colors 1024x768 and that seemed to do the trick! i don't know if maybe it somehow just got jarred with the update installation, but whatever happened it seems to be fine now. no more grainy drop shadows!
