hey guys n gals, i am going to buy a MBP and basically i am a student so naturally buy the HE discounted one. now whats the story with the 3 year apple care for £58?

i heard some where that it comes as standard so i do not need to buy the extra care? so whats the story? can someone help?

cheers

Where are you seeing AppleCare for £58? The UK Apple Store for Education shows AppleCare as £231.48. I'd say AppleCare is worth it, but I'd check to make sure what you're getting really is AppleCare. £58 is way too low.

on the proper HE website. if you access it through the university you will get all the proper prices.

£58 doesn't sound proper at all though. I'm not sure what you mean by "proper HE website." The £231.48 price was what I got when I said I was a student at Southampton University. In any case, AppleCare does not come as standard with the computer - you get 1 year on parts/service and 90 days on phone support standard. AppleCare is 3 years for all of that. I'd say it's worth it for £231.48, and definitely worth £58 if you can really get it at that price. Just make sure that it is actually AppleCare for that price, because that doesn't sound remotely close to what it should be (the US price is $350, or $240 for students).
