drealiT
Yes I am very interested in this type of build too. I want to drop the setup into this Antec Minuet 300 micro ATX case... but I can't find a sure-fire micro ATX board that has the reliabilty I want along with being Quad compatible. As soon as I find a stable/solid motherboard... then i'll move onto the other components (with the exception of the case).
antic
If your looking for a micro board then the Asus P5E-VM HDMI might be the one to go for http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&...amp;modelmenu=2 Its on sale in the uk for around £90 and it supports the new 45nm Intel chips Looks as though the sound, network and firewire should all be compatible. Unfortunatley it has gmax3500 which isn't compatible but if you add a decent video card you should have the perfect micro system. Has anyone tried this yet
edmoncu
^^ as good as the board is, it's availability is still limited... anyhow, for those who have this board, have you get a hackintosh (tiger or leopard) working with it?
Scrizz
the GIGABYTE GA-G31MX-S2 supports Quad core and penryn cpus and it has ICH7 which works w/osx and supports 4GB of memory has a pcie 16x slot and a pcie 4x slot and it's $
edmoncu
^^ my problem with that board is that it only has two memory slots which may limit memory upgrades... knowing that the chipset can support up to 8gb of ram.
la_mer
I think Asrock 4Core1333-eSATA2 is also OK because it has same chipsets with Gigabytes P31 DS3L and plus it has a ATX form factor and eSATA and Firewire ports.
BlackCH
thisone seems a good choice to me. Seems everything will be working with osx, even onboard graphics (GMA 3100)... DG31PR ...but it has only two memory slots...
strangedaze
The Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2 seems to work quite well. I haven't tried it with a quad core but the product page at the Gigabyte website lists the Q6600 as compatible. See this thread for more info: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...68794&st=20 I would HIGHLY suggest staying away from this board. Owned two of these and they are complete sh*t, both broken within a month. When they did work, I hated them as well.
catjesus
Check the Biostar 945G Micro 775, everything work fine with Leopard including full audio support. (don't go with the 945GZ, is a different mobo and don't have full audio support). Enjoy. How'd you get LAN to work??? I've been trying for hours! (No love in 10.4.8 or 10.5.0/.
edmoncu
in line with the topic, the recommendation on going with a 945G chipset is not appropriate as it cannot support quad-core chips.
