What would one face (legally) if Apple or local government discovered they had downloaded OS X Leopard? Do the laws differ depending on state/country? What is the law in Michigan, USA? How likely is it that Apple would track down those who illegally downloaded their OS? Could one be looking at jail time, fine$? Both? Just curious.

Up to now, Apple has only prosecuted those who decide to share / leak their operating system onto the Internet. I doubt they would try to find the people who download it, because then they would have to sue hundreds of people. So, you're relatively safe if you downloaded (or are thinking of downloading) leopard.

And on top of that, Apple seems to be more concerned about leaks of beta copies than then final retail product :)
