Just posting to let the community know that iWork 06 has been posted for your evaluation purposes. :)

I myself have been making good use of iWork 05, and sincerely hope the new iWork bundle is more useable than the iLife 06 bundle recently released.

my iwork works find. Much faster than iwork 5.

i use 1099 too. But my cpu is see3 with XD

maybe it's cpu problem

yeah goddam colin

i'ts a cpu prob, some guys are discussing about if it happen because: cpu or less of f1111 build

but lots of sse2 users have this insue.

i think it's time to sell my {censored} of pc and buy a mac mini x86 or maybe wait for a maxxuss patch in order to run this app that needed sse3.

Both apps are running fine here (see signature for my sysconfig).

I don't think Pages, Keynote and iWeb are to replace MS Word, Powerpoint or Frontpage. I think they are an alternate option. These apps are easy to learn and will meet most of your needs. Someone who's familiar with MS's apps won't see a reason to use them but since most of you (us) will not even pay for them, you could give it a try.

iWork downloaded in no time at all, but it's mainly because it doesn't exacty tons of people rushing to get it, like iLife 06 does.

Even as universal binaries, I'm very unimpressed by these two programs. I'll stick with MS Word and MS Powerpoint in Rosetta for now. These programs don't have many options. It sort of reminds me of iWeb in the low level of features it has.

Apple should stop making iWeb, Pages, and Keynote all-together. They just plain... stink. I wouldn't loose sleep over it if these apps don't run for you.

these apps just like some special mode of a digital camera---easy for people to use.

this suite of apps, while clearly not as feature-packed as thier M$ couterparts, are nonetheless quickly taking a greater hold over the market for office apps. I like them, and I hope they stick around.

BTW to anyone following this thread, the problem of iWork not working on some machines has been traced to a lack of QE or Video Acceleration.

Been using it for 2 weeks now...

It's amazing, much easier to use and faster than the competition like MS office or open source stuff. I currently have office 2004, iwork 06, and openoffice 2 native intel on my machine and out of all I use iwork '06 for most of my daily work. I removed the dock shortcuts for word and powerpoint and use pages and keynote instead (including for reading word and powerpoint files that are sent to me. They're THAT compatible, even when pages alerts me of a possible layout problem opening a doc file it STILL displays perfectly.)

Just use a PROPER hackintosh system, which means sse3 and accelerated graphics and you'll be fine. anyone using less is lucky to have even gotten to try OSX at all since it's not meant for anything other than sse3 cpus with accelerated graphics chipsets by intel (on hackintoshes).

Considering how cheap iwork '06 is, I highly recommend everyone please BUY this software if you use it. It's cheaper than MS office and shows Apple that we love them and support them.

Pages it´s fully functional. simply

1.Simply go to Applications, Right Click on Pages if you have an x86 two-button mouse, then click Show Package Contents.

2. Now click Content

3. Then click Resources

4. Look for a file called defaults.plist and open it with TextEdit or an alternative.

5. Search for:

<key>SFRAcceleratedCanvas</key>

<true/>

after locating this, change the <true/> to <false/> and save the document.

Or remove the key.

Ready.:thumbsdown_anim:

I'll post my more in-depth review of the iWork apps later on, but suffice it to say, I'm not exactly blown away by this software.

For one, the auto-correct feature in pages is years behind MS Office. For the power user I think it's worth waiting until Office 2007 for Mac comes out, but if you're not that then this should do you just fine.
