I just spent 3 hours installing JaS OSX 10.4.8 in VMWare to partitions (becuase my drive is SATA). I got it all up and running, and then shut down the VM. Tried to start it back up, and I get this error that I need to remove + add the hard drive again.

It turns out that NOTHING stuck!!! I'm totally pissed off right now and I urgantly need to do what I'm doing wrong. I tried to install it natively but it wouldn't work because its sata and disk utility didn't reconize it.

Please, help me. I'm tearing my hair out!

Get macdotnub and install native.

I did a good lot of testing and in the end, MY conclusion was that the 10.4.10 kernel can't be used with VMware. It causes a virtual CPU reset and sometimes a kernel panic. Some have gotten 10.4.9 to work with the 8.9.1 kernel (like me). Uphuck 1.4iR3 worked for me but not many others, Uphuck 1.4iR2 worked for a good number of people as well.

There is, I am trying to install osx86 on my Inspiron 1501. I've read the thread, and I know for sure I can only install it via VMware if I want it done locally.

Hell, I even tried installing to an External HDD, but there was no kernal dependancy, and the installation always hung from like 3-5% of the First part of item installation.

Ideas? I'm sick of windows and I'm bored of Linux. I have OS X on my Macs and I love it. I want to get a way to get it on my PC.

If I need to, I can give a FULL, THOROUGH set of specifications to have someone give me step by step details on what to do.

Please, help me out!

I had TubGirl's install work through VM, but something was wrong with the install, and all animations were very choppy. I can't use OSX like that (whole point of using OSX is eye-candy and fluidity) so I'm downloading Kalyway's DVD. I have a Opteron 170 (similar to AMD X2 series) a nForce 4 motherboard and a SATA HD. I hope Kalyway's will work on a DVD, VMWare doesn't work well.
