Hello everyone... this is my first post as I'm a new member.

I'm running the following HW:

Asus p5N32-E SLI

E6300 Overclocked @ 3.4 Ghz

2GB-DDR 800

WDRaptor 150

8800 GTX

I've got a copy of kalyway-Leopard-9a527, it boots fine, i get no errors, after 2 minutesd or so in get to the installation menu, and click next... when it asks me to choose the drive to install the OS, there is no drive there, so i go to the disk tool and try to create a Journaled partition and it gives me an Input/Output error. THE HDD however is recognized.

I've tried first formatting the hdd with p.magic in fat32, or ntfs or simply deleting the partition with no luck.

When i try to delete the partition Journaled it says preparing to delete partition and it stays there forever (over an hr) so im guessing it gets stuck.

What am i doing wrong?? im not trying to dual boot or anything, i've got a sepparate hdd for windows.

thanks for the help.

Hey, Ximmortaldeathx

I'm pretty new to all of this as well. I have the same board, and after trawling through hundreds of posts, it seems as though it is an SATA/680i Chipset problem. I assume you are using a SATA harddrive, maybe try a an IDE drive and see if it makes a difference, I don't have an IDE drive at the moment so I can't test it out. Let me know if it makes a difference - I get the same problem weather it is Loepard or Tiger!

Hey guys I've formatet the HDD with another install dvd and installed it with kalyway's. I also got the Asus p5N32-E SLI board.

i ve the same mobo, but kalyway's dvd didnt work for me...

here are the things i had, first there isnt a proper support for nforce sata until now, a very new nforce sata driver released by medevil is believed to work with this chipset... check drivers section you will find the driver through some pages saying nforce driver...

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77071 this is the title :D search it...

but i m using pata drive so there is no problem over there if u dont have hdd over 128 gb :)

if it is 128+ drive than u need to format a first partition at 128 gb or less otherwise u wont be able to install unless u implement the new driver to your own personal install dvd... i will tell later how to fix the 128+ hdd full use...

ok once you have less than 128 gb partition in your hdd, boot with

-v -x cpus=1

-v to see errors

-x in case any naughty drivers cause problems --in my case i ve ati card and nvd* and gef* series drivers creates tons of problem for booting...

cpus=1 for nforce chipset! there is a kernel for all cores to work properly but requires efi to be installed...

10.5.1 - nForce Kernel (SSE3, Intel Only) available here: http://tinyurl.com/2x3o62

this driver for enabling all your cores, bcoz since 10.4.9 update apple is using new scheduler in the kernel that hates nforce {censored}sets... causing tons of problems

thats why u ve to boot with cpus=1 coz if multicore enabled it causes panic or before gui loads system hangs...

for 128+ hdd u need to add 0x036e10de device id to sata section of the appleviaata.kext than everything goes smooth...

i guess thats all...

ahh forgot to say...

everything goes ok with install and i first time boot the system it just shows gray screen in gui section for me nothing happens after that (for creating accounts etc page at first boot never comes out, guess it might be related to my ati chipset will try to fix it later...)

so i still have to use toh dvd...

kalyway nogo for me

iatkos doesnt even boot :) thanx to nforce... and uphuc not supplying enough kernel combis for booting, i suppose he specialise his dvds in spesific boards only...

toh is the one works...
