anyone tried leopard on any asrock mobos.. Last time when I installed tiger, it worked perfectly ( everything works).. but I cant even get the leopard to boot. I tried patching my own dvd from original, downloading the patched image but they all restarts after loading all the kexts.. I am using C2D E4300 btw..

Got it running on my rig, 4coredual vsta. You need to patch the kernel first, it's mentioned on several posts (sse2 patch) and replace the kernel on the patched dmg with the new hacked one. Instructions: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=68077

Burn, install, and replace the kernel one more time, the kexts and if all is well...

Good luck

Try upgrading a working install of Tiger instead of installing fresh. That worked for me well.

see this thread

YES! thats the only way i have been sucessful. You need 2 partitions with tiger on it then chose one for leopard to go on. install it there then when its done boot back in to tiger and do the post patch which will update the kernel and make the restarting loop stop

This method gives me a kernel panic with AppleACPIPlatform.kext error.

I also have the 4coredual-VSTA M/B. I sent a message to Olmirror asking him what bios he is running. My problem is that leopard will load till it hits the white apple page and then it will reboot and continue doing this. The same disk will load on the laptop though. So it's not the disk and I have a Intel 3.2ghz sse3 chip, so its not the processor. I'm thinking the bios might be whats making a difference. Forgot to mention already running Jas 10.4.8 with everything but sata working.

For other lovers of losing several hours of sleep, I'm dropping in some files to get the rig running Leopard. It's working on mine sweet and stable. If anyone else is getting theirs to work with an AGP card in conjunction with AGPGart, please drop me a line as to how you did. For me it only works without the AGPGart, with it, I get a black screen with the spinning beachball.

Download the dvd and patch the Brazilian way, replace on the DVD kernel with the one from below and install. There is a post somewhere as to how to mount & write the iso. Folow their instructions.

After installation drop in the hacked kernel, these kexts in the usual place, remove the intelcpupowermanagment.kext (or something like that) and hope for the best.

In system profiler the cpu shows up as solo core, but actually both are working.

All the other patches from Thestevo work fine, sound and ViaRhine.

Good luck and welcome to the upgrade...
