egarim Posted October 23, 2007 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Hi all, i already known that geforce 8600 are not supported but could they work in vesa mode ? Not using QE, CI etc? I try to change my 6600 with 8600 but i get the usually screen hold on end restart the pc. My videocard has 256mb ddr3 is it possible get work in vesa mode only ? Regards. Boot OS X into single user mode after install (-s as a start up option) and remove GeForce.kext /sbin/mount -uw / rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext Worked with 8800 cards when there was no driver for them, so I see no particular reason why the same shouldn't work for your card. ~mac.nub Edit: Whoops, made a typo.
