Former PC Fanboy
I found someone who wants to sell a broken iMac. It is a 20" Core 2 Duo 1.86 Ghz. They had a power surge in the house, it doesn't work anymore. The "white light comes on but nothing else happens". My question is, what does this sound like? My guess is the motherboard. My next question is, if its the motherboard, how much would I be able to get a replacement for from Apple or another source? Because if I can buy this broke system from them I wouldn't mind investing a little to get it fully working, provided its still significantly cheaper than buying a new one would cost. I am going to offer $300-$350 for the broken system if the repair won't cost more than another $300-$400. That way I could have a $750 20" iMac. Former PC Fanboy
I will ask for the serial number and see if he gets back to me. If it was the power supply how much would a replacement cost? (Assuming I can install it myself, which I should be able to since I fix PCs for a living but am new to macs) I looked around online for a few mins and couldn't find an area where you can buy replacement/repair parts from Apple. neogeo
u need to be a certified apple tech in order to order parts. If i can get the serial number or exact make of that unit, i could guide u better in a direction to go in.
