Michael
My OS X install is all messed up, but I cannot afford to do a re-install. So I was wondering if anyone knew how to force a update package to install regardless. -mjh Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6695-how-do-you-force-install-an-os-update-package/ Share on other sites
quixos
if you are trying to force install the 10.4.4 update you'll be worse than messed up. the update is for PPC only, and your osX will no longer boot if you install it. Michael
This is for a PPC mac running PPC software. Just thought someone here would have an answer. I have tried to no avail to find the answer on the net. Michael
CaptainSerial, thanks for you prompt. I am using 10.4.3 and want to install the 10.4.4. combo. I have just a bunch of little odd things that happen. normal apps that just stop working... and failures on the OS version checks. I dont mind a re-install but just dont want to be down for a day. Btw - my install DVDs went missing... and I cannot get new ones since I am now in Russia. I am using the torrent install DVD passed around from the Gold release. Though I did not have any problems installing previous combos on that.... oh.. and to re-emphasis... this is on my PowerBook Edited January 12, 2006 by Michael Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6695-how-do-you-force-install-an-os-update-package/#findComment-41737 Share on other sites

Michael
Yes, I want to force the package install without the package looking at which version of the os... or looking for other requirements since i know that it has all of them. No OS update shows in the SU application. When I run the package, it says that my system does not meet the requirements. I did a permissions repair, but that did not change anything. yes, I know that combo is for earlier versions, but because I am on dial-up only... I get the combo so I can always have it... better to get on big fine once then to try to do it many times. :-( Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6695-how-do-you-force-install-an-os-update-package/#findComment-41754 Share on other sites

Michael
Actually do not fret over anything. I just remembered after I was installing the OS that I had localized my system with the Russian releases. As such, that is why SU was failing. This time around I shall not... I will stay with the english bits.
