JasonM
Whenever I try to install Mac OS X on my laptop I keep getting a message saying "Still waiting for root device" Anyone know what the problem is and how I can fix it?
RitoN
I had the same problem. After a few reboot, I succeded in having an available device (using the partitionning tool), then my 500 Gb hard drive was recognized as a 128 Go HDD... After the installation, when my computer is restarting, I have the same message again. I tried to change the SATA mode to IDE or AHCI, but nothing is working for me. Forceman
Usually means your chipset has not been detected or your HDD in not primary.
RitoN
The solution for that depend on the version you are trying to install. With XxX osx86 10.4.10, I had to put my serial ata to AHCI mode with serial ATA using native IDE. For Kalyway 10.4.10, I had to use my HDD as an IDE drive (ATA mode set to disabled and native IDE mode on). For my SATA drive to work in both mode I had to install the Jmicron driver of the distribution. The SATA mode is really much faster. But my installation is still not working maybe because of my graphic card (radeon 2600)
