dave420
You locked the site out to the majority of web users. That's not helping the community. As for my posts, I've posted on plenty of other osx86 forums, and I spend a hell of a lot of time on the irc channels out there. So run along, go pretend you know what you're doing, and we'll see you back here next time you want to make a fool of yourself in front of your peers. Fixed your site yet? Edd
I think if you're going to do what you have done with blocking IE then it's extremely hypocritical to put "And btw: don't think this is a stupid ad supported site: The site is 100% ad free!" underneath a button to download Firefox that generates a dollar for you for every download. If you truly want people to use Firefox, you'd use a spreadfirefox.com banner. I mean your site does display correctly in IE, it's extremely obvious why you've blocked IE users - to earn yourself a few dollars, it's nothing to do with upholding web standards. cmdwedge
Remain polite here in this forum or go away. Hey, if you want to support some 13 year old kid, who rips off other people's work and compiles it into a webpage, then go for it. Not only that, but he forces the 97% of webusers who use IE to download another browser - another browser which happens to make money for him. He is making money from other people's work. And if you want to support that, feel free to give me a hard time. I'm sure that Maxxuus just loves having others make money from his hard work. I know I would. thunder.scripts
I'm pretty tired of reading how everybody is complaining about this and that, {censored}, I mean some guy has taken the time to write a fricken install guide to help everyone out, the least you can do is figure out how to download it for yourself instead of complaining about it. There was no useful information on this thread, all I read was a bunch of bitching like little girls. Now I can't even access the guide cause the bandwidth reached its limit, probably from all you crying girls. Let me know when the guides back up. Thanks Guy introduces site to the community. The community gives an opinion. It's not a difficult concept. dave420
UPDATE:Site is up again... I hope it stays up! (paypal@profit42.com>> please donate) I think you've said enough here 5,000 people now know you're just trying to gouge the community for something they can get elsewhere, without ads all over the site, and without constant begging for money. I apologise if this seems harsh, but you really set yourself up on this one. And naming your site "profit42.com" isn't exactly helping your case. Not to mention your "perfect" HTML is still broken (and I think helping to show your true motives to the community IS a great benefit, more so than attempting to extort 97% of the community, anyway. but call me crazy.) Wel, actually it's 10% that uses IE! Maybe not worldwide but 90% of the visitors that visit my site have Firefox or something else! I don't think it's strange because FF is much better and evyone that wants to install a better OS also uses a good browser... I don't think it's strange because FF is much better and evyone that wants to install a better OS also uses a good browser... A site that blocks IE is just retarded. Duh, I wonder why 90% of your visitors have FireFox... could it be because you're BLOCKING IE USERS? IE still has the userbase LINK. I don't know why people are such fanboys of FireFox. It's just a browser, not a religion. As a web programmer, I have it installed because I have to make sure our pages are Firefox compliant, but I use and prefer IE just because that's my personal preference. I sure as heck don't block Firefox users just because I prefer IE, that would just be retarded. I'm not going to bother to fire up Firefox to look at your guide, because I have trouble believing someone with that kind of obsessively juvenile fanboy mentality is going to write anything worth reading. Sorry, I don't think you understand me: I also track users that visit profit42.com/firefox.php so also the IE visitors are counted Also, the visitors of my site are mostly persons that know how to handle their computer and what's good for it (read: have firefox). The rest doesn't visit my site! Bur PLEASE: Talk about "OSX86"! This is not a webmaster forum! Create your own site if you want, this is my hobby and I'm proud of everything I wrote (only 16 years old over here!). Litespeed
Maybe it's a lack of PHP/CSS knowlegde by me, but I don't care: If you want to read the guide use a REAL browser. Whatever. If your attitude and site-building skills are anything to go by, then your guide is probably lame too. Did you stop to think that most Firefox users are probably using AdBlock? Here's full text of the guide in case the site goes down again: OSX 10.4.3 Installation You need: - The file ‘macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg’ DISCLAIMER: Don't search for this file, if you don't have it leave this site now! This guide is only made for Apple Developers that have obtained the file legally from Apple! - ultraISO - ppf-o-matic3 (click here to download) - A program that can burn ISO files. - An empty DVD-R or DVD+R (yes, no -RW or +RW) - Partition Magic (download link:) - Acronis Disk Director Suite - JaS 1111a Generic Patch v4.2b PPF (Click here to download) - A diskette with spfdisk (Click to download spfdisk) - The guide: 1. Create at least 6GB unallocated space on your harddisk using Partition Magic. 2. Close Partition Magic. 3. Click ‘START > Run…’ and type ‘diskpart’ (without quotes) 4. Type in (press enter after you typed in a line): list disk select disk [the number of your disk create partition primary id=af 5. Close the command window. 6. Convert ‘macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg’ to a normal iso file using ultraISO. 7. Apply the ppf patch using ppf-o-matic3.exe (the ppf patch from JaS) 8. Burn the iso file to an empty dvd recordable (+R or –R) 9. Start Partition Magic (again…) 10. NOW YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION! Make sure you have a bootable disk with fdisk (I recommend spfdisk, see download link at the top of this page), so that you can change your active partition if it goes wrong! Also: After this step you can’t use your computer for at least 1,5 hours! 11. Right click your new partition and set it active. 12. Partition Magic restarts the computer… error… 13. Insert the DVD with OSX on it in your disk drive. 14. Restart your computer. 15. Follow the Installation steps on screen. 16. When you are in OSX, reboot your computer. If you boot nice into OSX, go to step 22, if you get ‘HFS+ Partition error’ or want to read how to create a dual boot read the next steps. 17. Insert the diskette with fdisk, change the active partition to the partition with Windows on it. 18. Boot into Windows. 19. Install Acronis Disk Director Suite, install the OS selector. 20. Start OS selector, configure (follow on screen steps) it and restart your computer. 21. After the last reboot you should see a nice dual boot menu and should be able to boot OSX.
