GladiatorII
more info about this board, it comes with embedded Linux: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=869 you need to use DDR3 with it which is eXpensive at the moment.. deleted_account
for those of you who are new to this board, here's a review with pentiful pictures. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/10/0...uxe_wifi_ap_n/1 Refer to the above provided link to learn more information on the board's feature, ExpressGate. I'd love to own this board, but like above, said DDR3 is just too expensive, and doesn't seem too affordable for me. The lowest I saw this board was for about $299, which is about $80 more than a p5k premium, and about $40 more than the p5k3. However, that price would be hard to come by, and $360-$400 would be the ideal expected range. I Like a bunch of features of this board, especially the ExpressGate with linux, Wireless-N networking, as well as most of the aesthetics. But the DDR3 memory is keeping me from being set on this. why not settle for a p5k3 or even a p5k premium or deluxe for starters? if you own this board, you'd be the first to test it. I'm curious to know your thoughts and results. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65468-asus-p5e3-deluxe/#findComment-465095 Share on other sites
cellomo
Hi Guys, I finally have bought this Board on my own risk and my doubts whether it works with OSx86 or not. Now my report: Config: Asus P5E3 Deluxe Intel Q9300 (recognized as [2.5 GHz Unknown] but the Activity Tool shows 4 working cores) MSI 8800 GTS 512 Seagate 1TB & 500GB 2GB XMS3 1333 MHz 2x Pioneer DVR-215DBK (compatible with Toast 9) Kalyway 10.5.2 After installing Kalyway 10.5.1 I had problems with Audio, VGA and sometimes also with my Keyboard. Installing Kalyway 10.5.2 the system works great wit OSx86. Audio OUT, 2x LAN, VGA, HID, USB and Firewire are working without any problems. After shutting down the system, I had the problem that the fans were still running. I have fixed this problem with the NVInstallerV.41.pkg. Now the system shuts down perfectly. Sleeping mode is also working great - right Bios settings neccessary! Problems: 1) When the system wakes up from sleeping mode, it is not possible to reboot. When I want to reboot after sleeping mode the system is like shutting down with running fans - strange! On the other hand shutting down after sleeping mode works. 2) The System has only the "HD Audio Output". There is no Audio Input Device available. The Front Audio Panel of my case also does NOT work. I have tried both options in Bios - HD and AC97. No success. But the Front USB Interface works fine. These are the only problems I have realised till now. I can ignore these probs but I am sure there is solutions about these issues out there. Topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry565361 does not fix my problem. Any ideas? If anyone knows how to fix them, I would appreciate it much... Thanks in advance.
