spierdolony Posted October 2, 2007 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Hi,I just ordered a new comp. It has a bad axe 2 (d975xbx ) motherboard. This motherboard has sata 2 raid support on atleast one of its controllers and possibly both. I'm intending to implement raid 1 (possibly raid 5 at a later date.) When I go to install osx will I be able to install to a raid partition ?? Will this require a special procedure such as a work around or will it work out of the box? Has anyone done this? what are your thoughts/experiences and procedure if required? Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere, I did have a quick search but didn't find anything. Also will there be any problems when creating a raid 1 array with unequal drive capacities e.g A 300 and 320gb drive besides of course losing 20gb of space. Wenle Z. Posted October 8, 2007 Share Posted October 8, 2007 i tried before with my AW9D-Max (just like your board). I have 2 raptors, i tried Intel's RAID, and even OSx's software RAID. rhalls Posted October 8, 2007 Share Posted October 8, 2007 As far as i know, you 1) cannot boot on Raids 2) cannot use the on-board-raid-functions of some boards at all 3) but may use the apple software raid for data harddisks.
