solaar
Hi nvidia specialists, I'm running the 7600GS with titan and DVI. Although it seems to 'be able to work' it sometimes craps out at boot and leaves me with either - a completely black screen - not even a cursor - a light blue screen with a huge cursor that looks like the resolution is at 800x600 Sometimes - perhaps once in 10 boots - I see the OSX splash with progression bar, also at 800x600, before the screen goes blue with a large cursor. After re-booting the third or forth time it usually boots to normal operation without any apparent bug. I tried it with a VGA adapter but that's not any better. Needless to mention, I never had this problem when I still used the onboard GMA950. Any hint appreciated. cheers sol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65162-nvidia-7600gs-random-boot-problem/ Share on other sites
hecker
Hmm, it's hard to tell. Is that an AGP card or PCI-E? hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65162-nvidia-7600gs-random-boot-problem/#findComment-461496 Share on other sites
solaar
It's a PCI-e fanless. It has the MSI tag on it - if that's of any relevance. I know that hard core tech heads tend to be in utter disbelief when a tech boob like me tells them the problem is occurring randomly but trust me, it really is. BJMoose
I'm using the 512mb version of that card with a flashed rom and have never had a single problem with it. The difference could that I use natit v02 as opposed to titan. royco
I had the same problem with my 7300GT, I had to reboot several times to get it to boot to OSX. If you are booting via Chain0 try booting the OSX drive only and see what happens. I didnt do extensive testing to find out what was wrong, I just replaced the card with a 7900GS and the problem went away.
