ddbng
Greets to all & thx for the great work------new member I just wanted to post something & ask if anyone can recommend a guide for installing & or enabling kexts for nvidia & other hardware------I have a few leads on this & am somewhat saddened by the hosting adversity suffered by Demonoid, Macvidia & others recently----we're just curious & intrigued with running OS X on x86 Have had success with 10.4.10 tub girl on NVIDIA nForce3(ECS nForce3A) & also with a USB install which seems to boot on almost any PC------trying to get install prob's worked out on a MCP61-405 & nForce4(MSIK8N Neo3)neither of which are booting successfully------if anyone knows where to find Macvidia drivers I'd love to know------My best install was 10.4.9i r3 Uphuck on Intel 945 ICH7 Abit IL9 Pro, but curiously after updating BIOS to latest can no longer boot hard disk or install disks for OSX86 & I've tried them all but hesitate to revert to prior BIOS--afraid it might not boot---- I have now made several successful clones of OSX86 boot volumes with Acronis in windows to my surprise as I'm almost positive that Acronis doesn't claim this ability with HFS or OSX for either True Image or Disk Director Just wanted to pass this along as I find it quite useful & hope it may be useful to others as well-------Disk Director 10 & True Image Enterprise Server 9.1.3854 I've also had a lot of trouble with using disk utility on MBR disks & find the best way to prepare for an OSX86 install is with Partition Magic in windows(create unformatted partition only) followed by setpid with Acronis(change partition type to 0AFh) this creates a partition of type 0xAF(ShagOS swap in Acronis) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65147-cloning-hfs-in-windows/ Share on other sites
cbmkgd
I have now made several successful clones of OSX86 boot volumes with Acronis in windows to my surprise as I'm almost positive that Acronis doesn't claim this ability with HFS or OSX for either True Image or Disk Director If the fs isn't recognized, it does a raw sector-by-sector backup. I recommend you zero-up your unused space on your osx partition (with diskutility) beforehand; that way the compression by trueimage will be much more efficient. I've also had a lot of trouble with using disk utility on MBR disks & find the best way to prepare for an OSX86 install is with Partition Magic in windows(create unformatted partition only) followed by setpid with Acronis(change partition type to 0AFh) this creates a partition of type 0xAF(ShagOS swap in Acronis) Since you're using Acronis DD, why not use it to partition? Anyway, whatever you're comfortable with is ok. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65147-cloning-hfs-in-windows/#findComment-461410 Share on other sites
vandall
I am cloning my OSX install from USB to SATA, with no joy! I'm using carbon copy cloner... I just get a blinking dos cursor and it doesn't boot to anything. Would trying True Imnage to do the job in Windows be futile?
