zippod
Thanks to this board, I've started this project on my newly built computer I have a sucessful install, but the only way to boot into os x is with the DVD installer. It won't boot into OS X without the DVD in the drive. My system: Mobo: Gigabyte P35 DS3R CPU Intel E2160 1.8ghz (overclocked to 2.7ghz) HD: Western Digital 3200aaks SATA (on purple port) Graphics: BFG 7950 GT RAM: 2 x 1GB Corsair DDR2 800 I've set my OSX partition to active. It's a JAS 10.4.8 install. Is anyone experiencing the same problem? Please help. I'm getting extremely frustrated. I just want to get my new toy up and running By the way, posting on OS X and loving it. zippod
I'm dual booting OSX and Vista. I found a fix for this. I'll try to find the link and post it here in a bit. Now I just have to figure out Darwin Bootloader so I can have the option to select Vista to boot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64842-cant-boot-without-dvd/#findComment-460298 Share on other sites

zippod
Here's the link: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...partition+error I had a hfs+ partition error when trying to boot off the hard drive. This basically solved that problem. If you have other error messages, it might not work for you. Here's the steps I did to get my system to work if it helps anyone else reading this: My system and specs is noted on the first post. 1) I have a dual boot system, so I first installed Vista. 2) Follow guides to create partition for osx86 (make sure partition id=af, and file system is fat32) 3) Install JAS 10.4.8 with PF1 & PF2 (It won't see the drive, You'll have to use Disk Utility at the top of the menu to see the new partition (erase the drive in extended (journaled)) 4) After Install, Reboot without DVD, if you get the hfs+ partition error, follow the link above for fix. 5) Follow this step to create dual boot using darwin boot loader to select operating system to boot into: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...oader&st=20 6) Find patches for your components and all should work fine. If you have a Nvidia graphics card, Here's a link to Nvidia Drivers: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry460318 Everything works for me so far, except sleep. Hope this helps.
