macevan
hey, i'm needing help installing uphuck 10.4.9 to my cheapo emachine computer it's the W3107. you could just look it up and get the specs [: amd sempron 3100 nvidia geforce 6100 and i have a linksys wmp11 wireless card that i need to get working and i also really need the vid card working correctly so i can have high res on my 22inch. the furthest i've gotten is to the "you need to restart your computer" screen. also, after every install, the machine can never reboot. it sticks at the command and just sits there. . . any help would be so appreciated. thank you, evan. ps. i did try an old 10.4.3 (jas i believe) disk that actually installed and booted. it was just REALLY slow and not worth anything. macevan
it just hangs at "MACH reboot" and doesn't reboot. i'm thinking it has to do with having an nforce chipset? although i'm honestly not sure i even have nforce Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64694-geforce-6100-and-wmp11/#findComment-459526 Share on other sites
~pcwiz
Oh..I see a possible problem. You are using Uphuck and you have an AMD processor. The only version of Uphuck that will work with AMD is the Uphuck v1.3 Universal DVD. If you are using a Uphuck v1.4 series DVD, its Intel only. macevan
i don't think that's it, i mean during installation i can select the amd kernel and such. i've got the uphuck 10.4.9 DVD. ~pcwiz
Well if you can select the AMD kernel, then you should be OK. I suggest you try using a different ISO than Uphuck 10.4.9. Get: Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 PPF1+PPF2] ISO Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64694-geforce-6100-and-wmp11/#findComment-459560 Share on other sites
macevan
well i tried dl that one w/o success. even at work (two T3 connections) it barely went anywhere, even though the thing had i think around 70 seeds. i'm trying an install again with the uphuck. going dual boot. hopefully by messing around with installing different drivers i can get mine figured out. Get: Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 PPF1+PPF2] ISO I've been meaning to ask what does ppf1/ppf2 mean? and why every time I try installing this it comes back to "Errors during install" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64694-geforce-6100-and-wmp11/#findComment-461090 Share on other sites
~pcwiz
PPF1/PPF2 are patches that are applied directly to the ISO to fix bugs, add new features, etc. PPFs are useful because instead of remaking the whole ISO, you can just apply the PPF patch. The ISO I recommended is fully patched with both PPF patches.
