owlglass
Some Tiger features seem to have been removed in Leopard. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. It's no longer possible to send SMS's from the Address Book. You can't do a comprehensive search in the Finder anymore, that is, it doesn't list everything on the computer. HackerName
The previous build had a Search for system files checkbox, but that has gone missing in 9A559 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64619-tiger-features-gone-missing-in-leopard/#findComment-458093 Share on other sites
Cougarcat
What about classic support for PPC machines? Did they take it out? I wonder if it would be possible to take your classic folder and classic.prefpane and move it to Leopard... And input managers are indeed kaput, right? Sigh. I love leopard's features, but I prefer tiger's look and I want my Deus Ex, Riven, and Inquisitor... HackerName
Yes. Classic and InputManagers are dead. I'm more sad about the latter than the former though. kevnaca
Yes, ditching InputManagers is Apple's idea of securing OS X from threats. But it also cripples the capabilities of add-ons available for Safari. So I had to switch to Firefox. Safari is still a work in progress. diamondsw
Not that it affects me on Intel, but they really dropped Classic from PowerPC machines? What would possess them to do that? Some people still need that (believe it or not). Some people still need that (believe it or not). If they need it they can still use Tiger. When an Operating Systems supports an all but dead technologies ten years after the tombstone's been engraved it starts to look like Vista. I know, I know... Leopard does have the menu bar but I didn't mean look like Vista THAT way. owlglass
There's a new option available from the long list: "System Files" - "include" Thanks! Hadn't noticed that -- it's kept well hidden. MacVertigo
As long as all the short cut keys are still there I'm cool.. It was drive me nuts if I start hitting short cuts and something happens that I didn't want to. Macsweep
So, what happens if you try to install classic.prefpane and classic startup (in coreservices) in leopard? Anyone try it? I tried it on a MBP (I don't have a qualifying PPC Mac to run Leopard). In Tiger and Leopard when trying to launch Classic Startup, it give this alert:"Classic could not find a Mac OS 9 system folder on the startup to use. ...blah blah blah... Select a system folder in System Preferences.... In Tiger it wants to load Classic.prefpane but says "Please contact developer to update the prefpane". Leopard says "...You cannot use this prefpane on a intel based Mac...."
