zetbee
Hi! All of you is quite familiar to torrent community.. All of you know it - and using it. In these days torrent trackers are free to catch and use. But not all of us know about old as mother earth invention called USENET. Primary usenet group was created to exchange any kind of information via something similiar to massage board. In first days of running it was an 3l33t provillege. Most of offered board infos were about compz, IT, tech and that kind of stuff. But nowdays - we may find much more interesting things down there... For example - games, moviez, apps, mp3 and MUCH MUCH more.. My idea is to collect in this post usenet servers names - especially those dedicated to Mac OS X Software. Something like torrent trackers host names.. But little different. As a founder of this topic a may list first server_name: comp.sys.mac.apps BTW: As a software client for that kind of stuff i recommend http://www.panic.com/unison/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64511-usenet-for-mac-os-x/ Share on other sites
KaiNeR
grabit is a good usenet client, unfortunately its windows only but works like a charm in cross-over. grabit also has a really good search function saving the need to subscribe to groups and look manually. It also has rar,zip and par built in and auto fixes and extracts your downloads. anonymous86
Is there even such a thing like a free Usenet-Account? My ISP doesn't list all the binary-Newsgroups, and Panics Service seems a little bit... erm... well, strange. ~pcwiz
In my case, whether I use Usenet or Torrents doesn't matter because my download speed (30KBps) is the same whether I use a torrent client or Usenet. However, Usenet would be useful for downloading stuff that downloads extremely slow on torrents.
