Bizarre. I bring it up for selfish reasons of course (have a a Quadro FX 570M in my Lenovo T61p that I have been trying to get to work and is very similar to the GeForce 8600GT), but seriously, what's up with graphics development? There's full support for Geforce 5-7 cards, Geforce 8 development is stalled because, well, it just doesn't WORK. ATI 9xxx, 8xx and 1x00 cards all work and some folks have gotten HD 2600's working (look around in the Drivers forum) Intel GMA 900 and 950 work, development can't go any further on 855 or 865. Any obscure cards such as S3, Matrox or XGI will never be supported as Apple never released drivers to work off of (keep in mind that most graphics driver development thus far has derived from modified Apple kexts). So the only thing we can hope for is that Apple will update the Mac Pro with Geforce 8 graphics and a driver will be made, but that looks unlikely as it would seem they're favouring ATI cards in the iMacs so I forsee an option for 2900's soon (still offering X1950 isn't okay!) I guess apple likes to mix it up, sometimes throwing in Nvidia cards, but so far ATI has been the best you can get in a macpro.
