Folks,

 

Native install on D915GUX w/patched DVD (oah only). Video works, sound works, LAN works.

 

Few questions.

1) Anyone have any trouble ejecting Program DVDs from the desktop? It says it's in use and please close the applications. The only way around it is to reboot..

 

2) Why would platform=X86PC at boot cause my system to crash? I can run fine w/o this option, but I thought I would see what it does.

1. same problem here. some progrogs dont seem to get unloaded, so the dvd seems to be needed for the os.

another question: how did you get your alc 860 soundchip to work? what values are in appleazaliaaudio.kext? what soundkexts are loaded (kextstat). you seem to be one of some who got their alcs to work. some other didnt. you would give them great help if we could see how it is functioning at your mobo (i have nearly the same).

Hi,

 

Didn't make any adjustments to any audio files. Just installed and everything worked.

The problems you are having are because Tiger is thinking you have a developer platform... and you don't. X86 mode is experimental and not ready for use, it may or may not work. The eject problem is because Dev Kits have drives that do not have eject buttons. This is similar to the final Mac hardware. Hence, the OS is denying the ejection.

Can you confirm which network adapter your board has ? Is it the Marvell 88E8050 (Gigabit) or the Intel 82562EZ (100mbit) adapter ? This board can come with either.
