Goopnzaopleopz9
Hi, I'm new to this forum and new to Macs in general. After about a dozen re-installs of my JaS 10.4.8 DVD, I finally got to version 10.4.10! I tried to watch a movie with DVD Player, but I get an error message saying it could not find a valid video device for playback. Here are my specs: OS: Mac OS X (x86) v.10.4.10 Computer: HP Pavilion zd8205us Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon x600 (Here's what it says on System profiler:) Radeon Mobility X600 (M24) (PCIE): Chipset Model: Radeon Mobility X600 (M24) (PCIE) Type: Display Bus: PCIe VRAM (Total): 128 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x3150 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Color LCD: Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Not Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported I assume that the problem is CI and QE not being enabled, but I could be wrong. I've searched the forum for a fix for this, but I can't find anything that I can understand. (Terminal isn't exactly my thing ). Does ANYBODY know how I can fix this with easy-to-follow instructions? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63713-x86-10410-graphics-issues-please-help/ Share on other sites

Slice
Have you ATIRadeon9700 driver patched for your DeviceID=0x3150? Try to find koverg.patch. It may help you. Goopnzaopleopz9
I tried that, but I got nothing. Either I did something wrong, or it won't work on 10.4.10. Do you know of anyone who got it to work on that version? Goopnzaopleopz9
UPDATE: I tried using the koverg patch on another partition with 10.4.6, and it worked, but there's no way to change the resolution. Here's what I learned... - The 10.4.6 partition has only the koverg-patched ATIRadeon9700.kext (No Callisto Drivers, and no resolution changes are possible) The card is identified as a generic VGA Display with CI/QE working, but I can't change resolutions. - The 10.4.10 partition has the Callisto.kext and CallistoHAL.kext installed. I have control of the resolution, but no CI/QE. The card is identified as an ATI x600. Patching the ATIRadeon9700.kext does nothing. My question: Does anyone know how to modify the Callisto kexts to enable CI/QE? Or is there any other way around this? PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!
