alvin777
Hi. Has anyone tried the new Kalway/Koolkal DVD Leopard installer (with all the patches for OSX86 Leopard) for the GA-965P-DS3 rev.1 board? How was it, did it work flawlessly? Thanks in advance. Gbu. fordee
Hi.. I've run 10.4.10 on this board (GA-965P-DS3) without any issues, and there's a huge thread on how to patch the various bits for a very functional mac.. I've also tried installing the kalyway_Leopard_DVD_intelSSE3_9a527 with (sad to say) a poor result.. I'm assuming that I'm the problem though.. I got past the 'waiting for root device' prob by switching between the purple and orange SATA ports.. If I understand correctly, it can not be installed on IDE drives, nor from an IDE Cd-rom. Given those warnings, I tried to install from a Sata-dvd to a sata-hard drive, with the same bios settings recommended for 10.4.8-10.4.10, and it froze right after the "Darwin Kernel 8.x.x" bit with Panic's... After I reset my bios to 'failsafe' settings and tweaked a bit, I managed to get an install that completed, but on reboot failed again to boot. -- As I said though I'm really new to Leopard, and I'm probably missing something really basic. ** If anyone else has tried to install on this board, could you share your findings? ** * ps. Sorry for the lack for detail here.. I'll dig in and post screenshots if Kalyway or others want to help troubleshoot I-- Sorry, forgot to mention - For the Leo 9A527 Kalway install, i did use a Freshly-formatted hard-drive, and when I last installed, it got to the point of a 'completed' install, but When it reboots (-v mode, or -v -x) the error i see is "failed to start com.apple.DirectoryService.plist" over and over, stuck in a loop. alvin777
Thanks for this vital reply. This new Kalway Leopard installer does say it has all the uphuck patches and drivers from uphuck 10.4.9 1.4i r3. I guess this won't work yet on this board but if Kalway had patched it with an uphuck 10.4.9 ver 1.3, I believe it would work coz' 1.3 works for this rev.1 board. How about if you downloaded a 9a527 build then patched it with the separated patcher from Synthetix? Have you tried that? SyntheticX's separate patcher was built for his Asus P5B, it's good that it's got the same chipset as the GA, 965P and Intel ICH8 (both board controlled by Jmicron 363). I'll stop downloading this Kalway Leopard installer then and try installing the earlier Leopard build and go the hard way to patch it. If we could request Kalway (Koolkal) to use the uphuck 1.3 patch instead (and for good measure the 1.4 as well), that'd be great. Tommy
I know my board is a bit off the topic, but i did installed it today from an IDE CD-ROM to and IDE Drive, I would have to select all the patches (AppleSMBBIOS.kext too under Driver>System) for the system to boot paste waiting for root. I would assume it is a successful installation beside sacrifice QE/CI because of GMA900. If anyone know a way around this, please advice. Tommy Thanks for this vital reply.
