PsychoSync
I want to exploit my new 50" tv and i am wondering if there is any advantages in using any of the following systems to play HD content (files like H.264, HD-DivX, wmvHD...): MacOS X Tiger 10.4.9 (hackintosh) Windows XP Windows Vista I don't have a blue-ray or hd-dvd drive in my PC, I want to play HD trailers or any other HD content at the best that my hardware/software can play it. My specs: AMD Athlon64 3200+ 2,2Ghz 1GB RAM e-GeForce 7600 GT 256mb Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63495-hd-content-windows-vs-macos-x/ Share on other sites
hecker
I guess all the above mentioned systems can output the video in the same quality (they usually share the codec base anyway). I don't know how well you can configure your secondary output on OSX, since I have never used it. The video card utilities on Windows are top notch, though. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63495-hd-content-windows-vs-macos-x/#findComment-449407 Share on other sites
yume2k3
For playing video, both OS are supposed to be equal. But windows might get an advantage thanks to little improvements from hardware playback processing (PureVideo for nVidia and AVIVO for AMD). It can even be an huge difference since you will use a 50" screen (I suppose a HDTV since you are interested in HD contents). Also IMO video players are also better on windows. MediaPlayerClassic and ZoomPlayer are my favs. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63495-hd-content-windows-vs-macos-x/#findComment-449877 Share on other sites
