i got uphuck 10.4.9 and a fx 5200 agp.. if i use the graphics card, i can only boot into safe mode but, then i have no sound and no usb720 aircard ( my hackintosh is at work where there is no internet so i got an air card)also no qe ci only better resolution... but if i remove the graph. card i can boot normally with sound and everything else woking and of course no qe ci and 1024x768....i got intel 8xx (?) extreme graph. 2.. is the only way to boot up with the graphics card is safe boot???and if i get the sound working with the card installed, how do i get the qe and ci going? thanx

I recommend you save up $50 and buy a new 945-based mobo with gma 950 and compatible sound/nic (there's at least 10 decent brands/boards between $40 and $80)

*EDIT: this would cost less than getting a reasonably compatible AGP card working and would provide ancillary benefits [such as a PCI-e slot!])*

hey , now there is a thought ... i'll do a little shopping around... the 'puter is one of those small form factor type , so as long as i can find a mobo for it , it'll be no prob... i got a macbook at home .. this (hackintosh )is more like a hobbie 'puter.. i got it cheap and this is keeping me amused at work..Thanks again! :(

Yeah no worries on that front as almost all of the current 945s are mATX (vs. ATX)... Be absolutely sure to get something that you know works 100%, the MSI 945-GM3 supports 1066MHz FSB (read decent CPUs and faster RAM), audio works w/ the Azalia installer (included w/ most install discs) and the GMA 950 w/ the installer (included w/ most install ISOs) and lastly the NIC works with a RT1000x installer (not on all ISOs but dead simple to find..).. Your existing CPU and RAM likely don't need a higher end chipset however it's a bonus (and the GMA950 will hold you over till you need to do some heavier [3D] lifting)..

Only thing to watch out for is your CPU-socket type... if you're really ancient (pre-775) there are still ASRock mobos floating around w/ GMA950 but you'll loose the PCI-e likely (read: spend the extra $75 for a new CPU at newegg.com or something..)
