guyin916
i'm a PC person myself, but my pc won't do osx86 since it's a athlon xp 3000+ w/ geforce fx5600 ultra and yack yack yack. i plan on upgrading sooner or later, but the interesting part is my mac mini is my everyday computer....one thing that pisses me off about the mac platform is windows media player.. microsoft has not updated the damn thing for well over 3 years. it crashes webbrowsers when sometimes on streaming files especially on myspace (i'm a myspace addict). anyways, that's a different story. this is only my second post. the first post was my contribution to the benchmarks of xbench. i scored a 39.00. some people are putting out some amazing numbers. not to brag or rub it in, i only paid 10 bucks for my mac mini. i invested in a 1 gig stick. there are a few things i am very curious about: 1. has anyone tried installing front row 1.1? 2. used firewire camcorder to rip video to hard drive? 3. got widescreen resolutions at a HDTV monitor (plasma, rptv, huge lcd, etc) 4. used mactel for printing.... 5. used rosetta to run office 2004 6. successfully plays dvds full screen of monitor flawlessly ..... this is good for now.. -p Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6333-newbie-here-saying-hi-and-observing-got-questions/ Share on other sites

If you want to view embedded wmv files on a mac use flip4mac wmv codec. It will play in you browser without crashing and you can save the video if you want. In other words the codec lets quicktime handle wmv just like it handles mpegs, mov, xvid etc. Don't use microsoft windows media player for osx. Has anyone tried flip4mac on osx86? guyin916
flip4mac does not override the RAOCXplayer embed code for playing wmv, asx, etc etc.. for example: www.myspace.com/gallaher (my page) requried wmp9 on osx one way around this problem for osx86 users is to use darwine and ie6.. pretty buggy though.. i've read at numerous websites people successfully using wine, win98, and ie6.. wmp on the other hand, i really don't know Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6333-newbie-here-saying-hi-and-observing-got-questions/#findComment-40006 Share on other sites
