dutchiee (=
Hey i have successfully installed Mac OS 10.4.9 my computer, Q6600, gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6, 7950GT 512mb rom modded, 3gb ddr2 system but it feels so slow for the hardware in it. I have everything running except my built in ethernet, and thats with the 8111B driver =\. Anywayz my system just feels slow. Like for one the mouse feels unresponsive. I have a Logitech G5 but that feels slow even after fiddling around with the mouse properties in the system preferences so im not sure about that. i have searched the forums but to find no information on a driver for the thing . Secondly is just kind of total system responsiveness, as in opening finder, programs or what not. They just seem to take a while, probably a bit slower then my Celeron D 2.8ghz with 768mb ram. They both average about the same boot times for programs, but ofcourse the Celeron D is a bit slower. I mean my system profiler recognised my quad core, it regonises 3gb ram but it still doesnt seem to work fast . Is there anything i should be checking? also im pretty sure my GeekBench\Xbench scores are quite low. Ill post them a bit later as im @ work. What do u guys think could be holding back my system? hecker
Check your System Profiler to see if you have enabled QE and CI. Cheers, hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63013-osx-slowness/#findComment-446305 Share on other sites
dutchiee (=
Hey thanks for the reply Hecker. Yeah i have always had QE/CI since my installation of OS 10. Since i modded my rom its always worked , with natit or NVinject. At the moment i have Natit installed and it shows QE/CI enabled. Any other reason it may be feeling so slow? hecker
Hmm, you mentioned you have a quad-core CPU. Maybe this could be the culprit. I will search around the forums and let you know if I find something. Have you run Xbench and Cinebench? It would be good to have a few numbers to compare with other machines with similar hardware to yours. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63013-osx-slowness/#findComment-446454 Share on other sites
