MacintizeD
I have a question about installing mac applications. First off, I have two drives on my mac: C: (15gb) D: (150gb) I installed os x on C drive. So my question is, when I install an application on mac, will it automactically install the program into C drive? and does the apps have to be on C Drive (Application Folder) in order to function properly? I want to install all of my application on the free D drive. Is that possible, if so, how can I do it? Thanks guys Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62902-installing-apps/ Share on other sites
hecker
Most OSX applications can be "installed", simply by dragging them into whatever location on your drive/drives you wish them to be. There are no stupid registry settings or shared libraries required like in Windows. There is also no such thing as drive letters in OSX. So no C, D, etc. Partitions and drives (called Volumes in OSX) are located under /Volumes. Cheers, hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62902-installing-apps/#findComment-445440 Share on other sites
rathalos
basically, apps can be stored anywhere u happy.. with exception of a small handful of apps that are irritating and requires itself to be at the boot volume..
