thrunner
Well im not really sure what a SATA drive is but i have a Compaq Presario AMD Sempron Processor, SSE2, NTFSYou should do a little more research on your system before attempting OSX, at least you will learn more. Run a Windows system analysis program such as the freeware Lavasoft Everest : http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Evere...me/1086844970/1 The next time you could post some details of your system and ask and answer specific questions.Guessing at your system without a model number, it could use a SIS chipset: # Compaq Presario sr1511nx Sempron 3100+ System # General Features: # Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition pre-installed w/COA # AMD Sempron 3100+ processor (1.6 GHz) # SIS 760 chipset # 512 MB DDR SDRAM (2 GB maximum) # 100 GB hard drive # DVD±RW DL Drive Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6271-installation-problem-with-1043-build-8f1111a/#findComment-39218 Share on other sites

DeathChill
Well ive been successful enough to get this far i was jsut thinking that maybe i didnt do the partition right, but thanks i guess Well did you click the Tools menu (in the OS X installer) and open up Disk Utility? You should see the partition there and you must format it so that OS X can read it. thrunner
Well ive been successful enough to get this far i was jsut thinking that maybe i didnt do the partition right, but thanks i guessI am sorry, I didn't mean to make you defensive. It really doesn't take too long to look up some of the details of your system and the many members here are all eager to help if new members would just post a little more info. It is just not helpful to say something doesn't work in one sentence, without any more details. iDude
how do i format it so that OS X can read it I haven't used Mac OSX in years and have never installed it before (came preinstalled) and I even figured out how to partition the drive to be readable by the install. Use the Disk Utility, select the drive you want to put it on, and format it in Mac Extended FS or whatever it is. It takes maybe 30 seconds... Close the Disk Utility window and go back to the install... If you are on the page where the drive selection is blank, you may need to hit the < back button and then come back to the drive selector to refresh it. No too hard. Pierre
I have the same problem to. Took the keycommand -v and notist that my harddrives wasen´t mounted and that i think is the reason for blank third step at least for me. I get a fealing that it is the same thing for the threadmaker. Any one who knows how to get the disk satus mounted or what things normally causes the problem? I have a Fujutsu Scaleo 600 computer and two ide-harddiskdrives and a emty primary partition in af "mode" next to XP-boot partition, so it can´t depend on wrong filesystem... Read back up a few posts, when you run the installition cd, select diskutility fom the tools menu at the top of the screen to format your partition to HFS+. An unformatted partition will not get mounted at startup. Pierre
Thank you! I been inside the diskutility and try to get something done there but for me it´s just like a squirrel wheel. I cannot see any place for format the partition. How will i format my empty partition? Downside the window i can read the following about the partition: Mount Point: Not mounted Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Then i look on the partition under the info button i can get this information (and more) about the partition: Partition Type: Apple_HFS Writeble: Yes Can be formated: Yes Journaled: No *No? on the other place it said Journaled... how will they have it?* Okej for me it looks like i have a partition with Apple_ HFS format and get on and push the mount bottom and get following out: Mount failed The disk "diskOS3"could not be mounted try runing First Aid on the disk and then try remounting. Yes sir! i do whatever you say gladly... Verifying and Repair "diskOS3" Error: The underlying task reports failure on exit 1 non HFS volume checked 1 volume could not be repaired because of on error What a f**k! Before i got told it was HFS on it under the info buttom... And the failure messenger gave lot of help... Microsoft gives at least a hint so you can search knowlegesbases. Maybee they just aint so bad guys or the others always better after all ) Well here is there i stand right now and se deadends all around me... Can´t se how i format the partition... can´t repair and mount my HFS-partition that actual is not HFS under First Aid.. and a is/isent (hermafroditdisk!!??) just can´t get mounted... Pierre
Guess what? I have been in the Macworld for about 45 minutes to night... But say what happiness who last for ever?*smile* I got a hard hanging and leave me with nothing to do then unplugg the power and after that the mouse diden´t work propely.. just hanging in the upper right coner and just moved som cm before jumping upp again... Now back in XP and not here to complain im just wanna tell how my diskmounting problem get solved. I just clickt on the erase buttom and instead of erasing my partition it start to my supprise to mounting it and after that i could get on with the installation. It went easly in about 1 hour and sound and network worked fine and the microsoft keyboard and mouse did to.. but not the mouse any more... Now i wonder if i can reapair it some way or it´s just to erase the partition in windows and reinstall.. the mouse problem is just the same in the installationguide to and swift to ps2mouse did not solve the problem... this is my next thing to get on with and if you dont get the disk mounted in diskutility try erase the partition.. it worked for me. I had freebsd running fine on the partition before, so I know it works. Any ideas how what the problem is? On a side not everything is REALLY slow. For example it took about 12 min for the Language menu to come up. Then once I click a button it takes about 5 min for anything to happen. Has anyone found a way to speed this up for i8600 laptop? Nakrah
I had this issue. I am not sure exactly why it worked out this way but this is what I had to do. Boot into Windows XP run diskpart create a partition with ID=ax This for whatever reason allowed the OSX disk utility to Erase the disk and Arconis Partition Manager recognized the partition as an OSX Swap. OSX installation will not mount the image unless you try to Erase the disk. Go back to the Installer and all should be well. Issues I had... Before I created the partiton with the ID=ax OSX disk utility would not complete any operation on the disk. You will need a boot CD like Hiren's to set the active partition. Partition Magic 8.05 now considers my Disk to have a bad partition. No other partition manager has an issue. My System Motherboard.
