NikJosuf
Hello, I`m totally new to the OSX86-scene. I downloaded an Uphuck v1.4i 10.4.9 Installation DVD from usenet. I erased an entire hard disk, and installed the OS on it. I use my BIOS-bootmanager to choose whether I want to boot the hard drive with Vista, or MAC OSX Tiger. Everything went fine, but upon booting Tiger, I get an message saying I need to restart my computer, I think it`s an so called kernel-panic but Im not sure. How will I know how to solve the problem? Like I said, I'm an total noob regarding OSX86. Any help would be appreciated. NikJosuf. lithium06
when it's booting, keep tapping F8 to give you boot options. type in -v for verbose boot. it should show you what is giving you a kernel-panic. Haymo
sweet I had that problem... I had the same last line as you did... "com.apple.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement (1.0.1@0x3571c000) I think you can solve this by booting the DVD again and choosing a package that says something with CPU Power Management (I completely forgot the name of it) Install and reboot.... Hope I'm right and it helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-444278 Share on other sites
riws
Like Haymo said, you can check in uphuck Installation to remove the Power Management kext ( AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement ) or Boot up the Installation DVD, start Terminal, mount the OSX Partition and delete this /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-444284 Share on other sites

NikJosuf
OK, there`s progress. I removed the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and that solved the kernel-panic. But now the OS hangs on the apple-logo The little round indicator rotates though, but that`s it. I have an ATI radeon 9600 pro 256. Thanks for all the swift reply`s by the way Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-444352 Share on other sites

riws
using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers. If it just ends with this line, then this is an IOATAFamily Problem. Use other Version of it, there was a Choice of IOATAFamily 10.4.8 in Installer. ~pcwiz
I have the same problem with the same DVD image. First I got the Power management kext error too and I removed it and that fixed the problem but now I get that new error screen, but I don't think its the new on you're getting. riws
Could you please be more specific? I don't know what you mean. In Installer, where you choose what to install, take 10.4.8 IOATAFamily Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-445308 Share on other sites
NikJosuf
It boots !! Only the display is very small, I think it has something to do with my videocart drivers... I`ll start another thread for that, since this title refers to the boot problem. To sum up for other people with the same problems: I installed Uphuck v1.4i 10.4.9 on an empty harddrive, and got the following kernelpanic: Backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointer 0x0 Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies) com.apple.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement (1.0.1@0x3571c000) which was solved by applying the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement patch on the install-DVD. After that, it kept hanging at the apple-logo, and in verbose mode I found the following: hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000 PAE enabled LPC Bridge vendor ID 0x1039, Device ID 0x8 enabling INTEL features standard timeslicing quantum is 10000us vm_page_bootstrap: 512399 free pages mig_table_max_displ = 71 HTT: 1 core per package; 1 logical CPU per package Local APIC discovered and enabled Enabling XMM register save/restore and SSE/SSE2 opcodes ACPI CA 20060421 PASSED! ...maximum protection of compage set ALL Enabling SSE3 emulator Copyright © 1982, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993 The regents of the University of California. Since it just stopped at that last line, riws said that it was an IOATAFamily problem, which was solved by applying the 10.4.8 IOATAFamily patch from the DVD. Eminos
Hi, I have the exact same problem as you, but I can't find that 10.4.8 IOATAFamily patch in the OSX86 installation. I'm using uphuck v1.4i 10.4.9 revision 3. What exactly is this patch called on this install DVD ? Thanks. /E Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-445498 Share on other sites
Eminos
No one ? Please I really need this patch. I tried all kind of combinations with drivers and patches from the Install DVDs, I tried the revision 2 of uphuck as well, and the JAS DVD. The uphuck revision 3 gives the best result, but I just need this 10.4.8 IOATAFamily patch. /E Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-445574 Share on other sites
Eminos
So I guess that 10.4.8 IOATAFamily Patch is only available in revision 1 of uphuck. I'm downloading that one now. But maybe someone could send me the kext and instructions on how to downgrade the apropriate file from .9 to .8 version. I can enter OSX86 from within Windows and VMWARE. /E Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62633-osx86-1049-boot-problem/#findComment-445633 Share on other sites
