Hi, im just wondering weather sumbody is able to help me plz!!! i've installed mac os x on my AMD system and everything appears to be correct wen installing. When the computer restarts it gets to the boot logo of the apple (white screen), then just goes to a black screen and does nothin :wacko::wacko: . Can somebody plz help the computer will just not boot properly. I can't seem to figure out what is wrong, im using JaS installation package ver. 10.4.8 for Intel and AMD SSE2 and SSE3. If sumbody could help this would be greatly appreciated.

Thnks

I think you should try some boot loader like Acronis OS Selector.

But his Darwin bootloader is already working and booting, it's the GUI that won't load.

I suspect it's either a resolution your monitor can't do (doubt it these days), or a video driver is loading that doesn't work. Could be something else though, not sure.

So i've got a pc that doesn't boot, do i need to reinstall xp then download the Acronis OS selector and install a boot loader then reinstall mac or is there any other alternatives, or do i need to do something different.Thnkyou.I agree with Hakemon it appears that the darwin bootloader is working correctly its just the GUI that doesn'nt want to work, the computer stil runs fine though it just displays a black screen, im pretty sure my graphics card is compatible too, so its got me really confused.

Jas 10.4.8, QE/CI with kext edit. device ID = 0x4153, mouse tearing

I don't know, it's not a normal "YES" that I like seeing. It says the edit is for mouse tearing, but it also says to edit for all resultions. Perhaps the video driver isn't actually executing like it should. How much VRAM does your Radeon have?

If you know how to do that, go ahead a try, worth a shot. I honestly don't know how to do this, but then again, I'm in VESA 3.0 and stuck with 1024x768 32-bit 60Hz...
Yer i'll give that a crack, but i doubt itl work, im spewin it hasn't worked though cos installation was smooth and it was going great guns, then it just doesn't display a screen once it reaches boot logo. Can anybody be of any assistence??? much appreciatedThnkyou.

well the GPU crashed, we know that something did crash.. does the hard drive still do stuff when it blacks out? if so, the window server might have crashed.. i remember my old Beige G3 PowerMac used to do this with OS X Panther and above (but only during high HD activity)

hopefully someone with more knowledge can help.

Yes, the computer does appear to still have activity its just like a black screen though hopefully somebody will be able to relate to this problem, and i doubt that my hard drive would be under high activity, as it appears that the computer starts up fine, then operates at its usual idle, so i think its got the do with the graphics but hey im not sure either.

well the G3 problem I had on my real mac, was infact an ATI chip, but it was a Rage Pro, very old PCI chip... the problem was by a bad IO driver.

I doubt that's your problem though, those days of the PowerPC Gossamer motherboard are long gone.. your problem is most likely something else, and being it can happen all the time (my problem was always intermittent), it's probably a bad driver.

i have exactly the same problem as you described. Using the same OS X version the installtion works fine but when i restart the screen goes blank after showing the apple logo.

My specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

nvidia 7950 gx2

2 gig ram

2 x 320 gig SATA HD

Asus P5W DH deluxe

24" BenQ Monitor connected using DVI
