MacWeenie
Has anyone braved the use of iDefrag (http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iDefrag.php) to optimize their Hackintosh drive or parition? For starters, I cannot figure out how to create a bootable CD/DVD that will allow me to access startup drive so I can optimize it. Even if I figure that out, I really don't want to corrupt the file structure by executing the program. Please let me know if you have tried it and whether or not you had any success. Thanks! MacWeenie
I managed to figure out a procedure to boot my system from an external USB drive (click this thread for the procedure). From the external drive I was able to run iDefrag. It worked great. No complaints, no corruption, no problem. MacWeenie
mitch_de
You dont need to boot from other start hd for normal defrag usage. Use "online defrag" which defrags most (over 95%) of all files.

mitch_de
In left side of the idefrag window you can select the defrag method. "Online" does its job very well. Simple select online and than "go".
~pcwiz
The Kalyway 10.4.10 Intel SSE3 DVD has iDefrag built into its Utilities menu. While the Kalyway DVD did not for as a Mac OS X installation for me, its jam packed with useful utilities.
