KELVIN88
Heads up... The Ga-945GCMX-S2 mAtX appears to works reasonably well... use 10.4.8 Jas DVD Gigabyte Lan with Realtek - Used the realtek driver Ausdio is ALC888 - Used both Azalia and the ALC888, audio outputs works.. haven't tried input as yet. GMA950 video.. works of course... Board has overclocking options.. (FSB, Vcore, Vdimm, memory settings) works at FSB 333 (E2140) in windows.. but only FSB 315 (2.56ghz) in OSX86.. don't ask me why... Don't think the PCI lock works though. Used a modded E2140 (with bsel mod) to enable FSB266... SLeep deosn't seem to work well with OSX86 though... Also... although the Netgear WG311 version 1 is not listed anywhere as working.. I've got it going in a similar fashion using the method for the WG311T (they both use the same PCI ids)... Dr. Hurt
Finally someone purchased this board. I really wanted to buy one but was scared that it wouldn't work properly. Does the system profiler detect an "audio in" device? Did you use the ALC888 installer? KELVIN88
Inbuilt audio doesn't show in system profiler.. although the menu icon for the speaker in there When you double click the icon.. options for linein and built in mic are present... I used bot the azaliaaudio and ALC888 package... don't know which one is working.. given I isntalled both.. before testing hte machine out... Edit Just updated the kernel using your guide to 10.4.9.... audio fell apart... used the ALC888 package to get it working again.. presume ists the ALC888 package that works... interestingly the board has an spdif i/o perhaps that is whys it is one of the few 945 ICH7 boards to work with this audio driver??? or perhaps the ALC88 driver ptackage somehow dgot the audio working again... Once again.. no built in audio listed in the system porpoerties.. but the sound icon works and volume and output works.. I have yet to try input. Finally someone purchased this board. Dr. Hurt
Sorry I said system profiler. I mean "system preferences>sound>input". Anyway, congratulations for getting a perfect system. WOW, that means that this board is now fully working with os x. You should let everybody know about it to help osx86 system builders. It's also dirt cheap here in my local computer shops. I'm definatly going to buy it now. Thanks for your information, and again, congratulaions. Dr. Hurt
It work very well with OS X, but you must put in mind that there is no such thing as a super compatible setup for OS X except for real macs. You will need to use patched drivers (available around the forum) for the sound and Ethernet to work.
