Hi All,

I have tried almost everything i could in my knowledge to get the sound working.

- Followed almost all the tips avaliable on the forum.

- Tried Azalia method.

- Tried Sound Fix package.

But, none seems to be not able to get the sound working. Mine is an Realtech ALC850 sound chipset.

If anyone has the same chipset and got the sound working, Please send me the kext so that i could try my last bit of luck.

I am using Jas 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 PPF1 PPF2

Thanks in Advance,

Sapam

Did you see this?http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=15173 :P

Or this?

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=18642 :P

To get your #'s use the "Appendix" at the bottom of the second link!!

Note, per the second link: This will work! (I got this to work with my ALC262) If it does not work try again ( you made a mistake)! Take your time and make sure you do each step correctly. To help, just paste the text in terminal and chage the numbers to yours :)

Good Luck!

Let me know!!!

I tried "http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=18642" but i couldn't find the information for the Second Step:

I got the device and vendor id combination for the Step A

But for Step B, i have no luck

Step B. Under "System devices", find "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver For High Definition Audio" and also get the vendor and device ids

Under System There is no "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver For High Definition Audio" so i couldn't get the second combination pair of vendor and device id.

I'll try again but, if anyone has the two: vendor and device id for Realtek ALC850 i hope it will help me get it working.

Somewhere on the net I found the info for ASUS A8N SLI-Delux ( quit similar to my A8N SLI-Premium )

http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php?t=46709

And found some info for vendor and device id:

lspcidrake -v | fgrep AUDIO

snd-intel8x0 : nVidia Corporation|CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller [MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO] (vendor:10de device:0059 subv:1043 subd:812a)

I'll try this out tonight..

Now as i have the second set of Vendor and Device ID, I think i can try out the tutorial at:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=18642

In the above tutorial:

For Step A:

- Device ID : 0059

- Vendor ID : 10de

For Step B:

- Device ID : 812a

- Vendor ID : 1043

I hope this will help me this time.

P.S. I have got my USB Mouse busted and the "Up" Key of my keyboard also busted. But I'll still try to configure the sound tonight with my crippling keyboard.

Wish me luck!!! :D

My ALC850 just worked when I used the JaS DVD 10.4.8 w/PFF 1&2.

Try going to Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup.

There change the "Properties for" dropbox so the audio output setting show. Change the 6ch-16bit dropbox to 2ch-16bit. It should work.

DavidJavid,

I am not sure if this will work for me because, when i check "System Profiler" or "Sound" thing the "System Preference" i could not see the Sound device anywhere. "Input" and "Output" device shows nothing (its blank list).

And in "Audio Midi Setup" the drop down box is grayed out. as there is no Sound Device Detected.

My Primary concern or Task is to get the Sound device Detected... which am not able to get it right.

Can you Please send me your kext file? I hope that will solve most of my problem.

:hysterical: Man, I am at my wits' end now. I just tried the tutorial method plus the numbers you mentioned, editing and all went fine, but when it came time to load the kext, it returned the same maddening error message it's been giving me for AppleAC97Audio.kext - "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext is not authentic (check ownership and permissions)." Except this time, it returned this message TWICE - once for the kext itself, and once for one of the modified files inside.

I tried several things to fix this problem. I did:

1) sudo diskutil repairpermissions /

2) chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions

3) sudo chown root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

sudo chmod 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

None of those things worked. Do you know of ANY way to fix this problem? It is driving me INSANE.
