Hi all, I´m quite new at installing Mac on an ordinary pc, so here´s the question:

When I boot my Mac OS X 10.4.6 dvd on my laptop, everything goes as normal.

I get into the install allright, but when I get to the point of selecting the harddrive to install Mac on, there is nothing listed.

I'm trying to install it on my Fujitsu Siemens laptop.

It has an AMD 64 Turion X2 processor at 1,6 ghz, 1 gb of DDR2 RAM an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 and a 80 GB Harddrive.

Is there any way to install mac, or is my PC not good enough or is there another issue involved why there are no harddisks listed?

I really hope someone can help me out, as I'd love to install OS X on my laptop. :)

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info Arthur, but the problem is that my harddisk is not listed at the Disk Utility screen. :S

So, is there another way to install it, or get it to recognize my harddisk?

Thanks already

It is possible this issue has been solved in the 10.4.8 release. Maybe you want to download a newer version (10.4.9 is pretty stable).

But for the first try, please start installation with -v option and look for errors concerning hard drives.

Maybe the -x or -f option could also help you.

you pretty much have the same configuration as my laptop, and im dealing with the same problem... the hard drive won't come up in disk utility. i have the 10.4.8 version of the DVD and it's the same thing... so if anyone knows of a solution to this, i'd be happy to know it :) thanks.
