Seems that Apple has updated several of their older OS X icons as well as introduced many new ones at a higher resolution than in previous versions. Enjoy! :(

The 'display' icon is what appeared to represent my networked iMac. I believe that this same icon is used for any networked Macs, but for networked PCs... its a little bit more creative:

P.S. I'll let you know as soon as Apple sicks the hounds on me. :censored2:

Mind posting a pic, or PM it to me and I'll put it up? (If you copy the iMac icon in Finder Get Info window, you can open up Preview and paste into a new document.)

Actually, my macbook (tiger) shows up as a macbook on my imac under 466. my old powerbook shows up correctly as well, but it is running 466. every now and then, though, my imac "computer" icon (not the network one) shows up as a macbook pro, then switches back to a 24" imac.

I wonder if there are icons for the aluminum imac hidden in this build.....

Thanks numberz, those look great!

hazkid... would you mind posting & contributing your computer icons? I've been trying to figure out where the hell these icons are hidden, but no luck yet.

P.S. I did manage to stumble across the cool Time Machine backdrop image within the Finder.app called vortex.png, which makes an awesome desktop pic by itself!

Here is a zip file of a bunch of 9A466 icons.

Note: These are not mine!!! I downloaded them from someone else, but I don't remember whom.

Also: these are not ICNS files. They are folders with custom icons pasted on them.

Sorry for the megaupload link, but i didn't know if it was okay to post things like this as attachments. This way, a mod can delete my link if it's not allowed.

Thanks for the contribution hazkid! I actually finally figured out where all those little bastards were hidden:

/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources

Unfortunately when I open any of these .icns files in Preview, the 512 resolution layer seems to be all screwed up. I also tried opening them in Apple developer utility IconComposer but got the same results. Any ideas? I want my 512x512 icon images!

I'm posting from a Tiger (wow, I think it's ancient already) laptop, so I can't look for the files, but I think I know what the problem is. First of all, IconComposer in 9A46 is relatively broken. I've had graphics corruption in Preview before, and I've found that selecting multiple images and opening them usually works. Try that, and I'll see what I can do once I get back to my preciousssss... Leopard, that is.

Thanks for the advice Hk, but no such luck. I noticed that when I open the icons in IconComposer and select the Mask panel, the 512 layout is just solid black, where the other resolutions have a lovely icon shaped mask. Who knows, I'm sure that Apple will correct this. We shall wait and see...

if you install leopard on a comp with 2 partitions, cant u browse the files on leopard, that should help :(

I appreciate your input numberz, but I'm not quite sure what you mean. I have Leopard installed on my TiBook G4, and still am running Tiger on my iMac G5, so I do have both OS' available. The icon files themselves do not open in Preview in Tiger the same as they do in Preview in Leopard, so unfortunately that doesn't provide much help. I think its just a sit and wait situation for Apple to iron out the bugs of the 'resolution independent' Leopard that they've promised to deliver. :(
