    iTunes 7.7

I've given up and gone back to 10.5. I never could get my iPhone to show up.

    iTunes 7.7

Under Snow Leopard, iPhoto will see the iPhone 3G, but iTunes will not. Has anyone else experienced this? I really have benefited from the speed improvements in 10.6, and I don't want to go back to Leopard. By the way, the iPhone works fine on a 10.5 MacBook.

    Mac Veterans: PowerPC Pride!

Of all the ways to drop PPC support, this is really the best. There aren't any new features in Snow Leopard for the PPC users to complain about not having (except Intel optimization, which would be useless to them anyways). And since 10.7 probably wont be released until late 2010/early 2011, that makes the time difference from last PPC Mac deprecated to first OS with new features 6 years. Acceptable, considering Apple's past history.
  4. The only problem I can see would be if any Apple app in 10.6 uses a different preferences style than in 10.5. I don't think it should be something to worry about.

    Snow Leopard first impression

Nope, I was definitely looking at real mem. New bugs: Can't rename finder items in list view Can't copy/paste into rename under icon view Droplet applescripts return "Apple Event Handler Failed". Xcode (iPhone SDK Beta 7) took 5 min with no projects open to eat 1.2 GB of RAM. Really not cool for me.

    Snow Leopard first impression

I did know, but some apps seem so inflated, its ridiculous. Mail took 30 MB under Leopard, and it now takes 900! Activity Monitor takes 60 from 7. This seems far beyond what is expected of 64-bit.

    Snow Leopard first impression

Wow, I haven't posted in a long time. Are you using Firefox to download the DMG? Safari has never done that for me. Flash CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 Beta run perfect. I've been experiencing a scroll drawing problem where a window will get very strange looking after scrolling.* 64-Bit apps seem to use way too much RAM, and folders don't open in their correct mode (like when you set "Always open in list view"). Lot more beachballs, but CPU intensive processes take less time (encoding video). Everything really seems the same, but regular use actually seems more sluggish. Right-click spell correction doesn't work. Special characters palette doesn't show up. *

    Need help creating NSArray

Alternatively, you could declare variables as NSNumbers, then assign them, and then add them. This is from an old app of my (my first, incidentally) and this is in no way the best way... but it works. day0 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*0]; day1 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*1]; day2 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*2]; day3 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*3]; day4 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*4]; day5 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*5]; day6 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*6]; day7 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*7]; day8 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*8]; day9 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*9]; day10 = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:86400*10]; combodates = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:11]; [combodates addObject:day0]; [combodates addObject:day1]; [combodates addObject:day2]; [combodates addObject:day3]; [combodates addObject:day4]; [combodates addObject:day5]; [combodates addObject:day6]; [combodates addObject:day7]; [combodates addObject:day8]; [combodates addObject:day9]; [combodates addObject:day10]; Also, you should use initWithObjects: instead of initWithCapacity:. Again, I'm sure there are better ways to do this. And remember to declare all of your variables in [your class].h. And even though these are dates, just adapt it for [NSNumber numberWithInt:(intvalue)].
  9. I have a simple app with an NSToolbar that switches between views of different sizes. Everything works fine, including animations and window resizing, but when the upper-right button (pill shaped) is clicked, the metal toolbar background and the bottom window edge slide up. This leaves the toolbar items floating under the title bar, disabled, while the bottom of the view is clipped. I really have no idea what is going on here.

wow, what is the problem with safari?

Safari is a terrible RAM hog. I only have 41 tabs in 3 windows, and its using 600MBs.

    MSI Install on Vista

Well, I did that, but... I get a file called Data1.cab. I opened this file in WinRar and extracted the contents. I also used MBASE MSI Editor to find actual file names. I was able to locate moxisetup.exe (the file was _8D3000...). The issue is, of course, that setup needs the 200+ DLLs included in the CAB, and I really don't want to manually rename all of them, one by one. Since MBASE can export the MSI table to an XLS file, is there some some of script that will take column one and find the files, and rename them to the values in column 2? I know its complicated, but...

    MSI Install on Vista

Since an MSI is not an executable, I can't set a compatibility mode. I think I need to set Windows Installer to XP-SP2. Unfortunately, I can't set it, as c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe is decreed to be a "system component".

    MSI Install on Vista

I have a piece of software that I desperately need to install on Vista, and it says this program is only compatible with XP. Don't worry, it's not a system modifying file, and I'm really not worried about compatibility issues. BTW, it is the MOXI TV for PC beta. And, yes, I'm pretty sure it will work fine (or relatively fine) on vista). So: Is there any way I can bypass this "vista block"? I can't put XP on the computer I'm using right now. And yes, the installer is an MSI.

    Quicklook plugins

    Flash support would be great.
  15. Dictionary works fine for me. Don't look at my sig, though, I'm actually running 9B18 (10.5.1).
