Mactivist
I have a HP Pavilion dv6436nr. Maybe I am totally confused, but I'm pretty sure the hard drive is the problem. I have a 160GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm). I don't know if this has any issues with the JaS Mac 10.4.8 pff1 & pff2.
Headrush69
The problem is the SATA controller, not the drive. You're going to have to find out what SATA controller your motherboard has before we can help more.
Mactivist
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1180743549187 has a bunch of details on my computer. Would I find this other information is Device Manager? Device Manager says I have "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers." Does this help?
bluedragon1971
That one should be pretty much the same as most of the other AMD-based models posted in this thread. What happens when you try to look at the hard drive in Disk Utility when you boot off the install DVD? You might want to get the tubgirl 10.4.10 disc and give it a try, it is optimized for AMD systems.
Mactivist
The problem is that I cannot get past the "Press any key to continue or press F8 for options" when trying to install from the DVD. (I know the JaS 10.4.8 ppf1 &ppf2 I downloaded works in virtual machines.) That is why I think it may be the hard drive. I'm downloading the tubgirl 10.4.10 now. I'm going to try that.
