Two Minor Problems

6 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

I've searched through the Forums already and I don't think there's an posting like mine...but if there is a similar case already, please do enlighten me and sorry for the trouble

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lets start off with Hardware and Software installed

CPU: Intel P4 630 (3Ghz)

Mobo: Asus P5LD2

Graphics: nVidia 6600GT

HDD: Seagate Baracuda 7200.10 and Maxtor Diamondmax 10

Apple OSX 10.4.8

Kernel 8.8.1

JaS Install Disc

Here are several problems I've run into so far, perhaps theres an answer to some of them

Problem 1:

When sleep mode occurs, the monitor does not resume but stays in the sleep mode while the machine boots up and runs

I've read that there is methods to fix this…but I haven't run across any threads that give you a definite answer on doing this…can anyone point me in any directions?

Problem 2:

Mac OS X refuses to Mount my Logical NTFS Partition on my Maxtor Diamond max 10 (OS X is installed on my Seagate Barracuda)

Here are some pictures of the problem

PS: I've already tried NTFS-3G and MacFuse..but probably due to the lack of experience (its my first actual time using a mac for an extended period)...i dont really know how to configure it.

Thank you so much for all your help

Hi!

Does your CPU support sse3 ?

So if yes look here:

With the ntfs partition i`ve at the moment the same problem with a 300 GB Maxtor.

for your problem no.2, delete your ntfs partition using the windows xp install cd or any third party partition software. if you have important files, transfer it to another partition or drive.

after deleting the partition, format it with either ntfs or fat32 partition again.

reboot in osx, and check your partition if it is mounted. if not, try to verify disk permission and then manually mount it

that is how i solved my problem before.

***MAC OS X CAN READ BUT CANT WRITE TO A NTFS PARTITION, EXCEPT WITH THE USE OF MACFUSE PLUS ADD-ONS.

***MAC OS X CAN READ AND WRITE TO A FAT32 PARTITION.

If you have a recent version of one of uphuck's OSX86 releases, you can install the entire NTFS-3G package including MacFuse and everything necessary by just checking one box...NTFS-3G. Just don't check anything else in the install disk and that is all it will install (no formatting of your OS disk). This should allow you read/write access to all your NTFS disks with no muss or fuss on your part. Good luck.
