BJMoose
Hi Misteries, if you already have the hardware you mention in your first post, go for it. It only takes less than 15 minutes to do a basic installation. Install some software you'll want to use and see if it works for you. This is a very helpful forum if someone has a problem that needs to be solved. The question you're asking has been answered over and over again right in this forum. A search and a look at the wiki can help you get started. If you don't have the hardware yet, the wiki is an excellent database for stuff that works and doesn't. You can search for a particular board e.g. and pm someone who is using that exact board if you have specific questions. Even the most compatible stuff requires some tweaking to perfect it. Look around at some of the specs in people's sigs to get an idea of what's working. Good luck. Lactobacillus P
There is a forum topic on compatible hardware - especially a couple of 300 to 400 dollar Acer laptops are supposed to be ultra compatible. Worth looking around in there. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58736-okie-dokie/#findComment-419275 Share on other sites

Lactobacillus P
just watch yourself . . . if you end up paying so much that you could have bought a mac for that money, well . . . you know the obvious idea here. Indeed. Then your money is better spend buying a hassle free installation. Being exposed to Windows so much, with all the fidgeting and driver stuff I sort of got hooked on hackintosh. But I have working Apples in the house and use the hacks for Fun! Sapam
"Misteries", as you mentioned above that you will be using it for music production. I guess you should go ahead and go for a Mac instead as it will be 100% compatible and hassle free. Now as you can run windows on MAC you can still use Windows as when required, and I guess running a Windows on Mac will be less Hassle-free than running OSX on a PC. It was just my opinion. If i have money i would buy a Mac. Am even ready to give up my current PC for a Mac.
