I built this (see my sig.) about a week ago & the time on it keeps running amok! The longer I leave the computer on,

the larger the desparity is between the computer's clock and the real time. For example, right now, real time is 3:50pm

but my Hackintosh says it's 4:09pm.

Anyone else have this problem?

It can't be the CMOS battery on the mobo because I'm not losing any settings in the BIOS

and I've only had the mobo for 1 week.

I've tried not overclocking, but that didn't help either. Is it just OS X being retarded about the time???

The what in the where?

FSB = Front Side Bus? No, I didn't

Please be a bit more specific - where's the boot file & what do I do with it to get the time to display correctly?

thanks.

  1. Go to Applications -> Utilities -> System Profiler
  2. Click on Hardware, it's on the very top in the list on the left
  3. Look for your Bus Speed, it should be something like XXX MHz
  4. Divide that number by four, and remember it
  5. Browse to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
  6. Open the file com.apple.Boot.plist in TextEdit
  7. Under <key>Kernel Flags</key>, add the line <string>FSB=XXX</string>, where XXX is the number you got in step four
  8. Safe that file to the Desktop, with the extension plist
  9. Replace the old com.apple.Boot.plist with the new one from your desktop
  10. Repair permissions
  11. Reboot

Yes, I've tried both checking & unchecking "Set Date & Time Automatically" with Apple Americas/U.S. timefrom the dropdown - still same problem.

Same issue after upgrading from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 :) -- Clock is running slow and is a full hour behind over night.

I tried setting FSB as suggested which didn't help..

Anyone ever get this resolved?

EDIT: Found solution! - details here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=112531

Ok I think I have found the real solution to this problem. At least for me I have found the problem in the speedstep app. When I turn the speed to full on my cpu the clock keeps time perfectly. If I set it to automatic it will lose time always. If anyone else having this problem let me know if this works for you.

Im having a bit of a different problem with my time. When im in windows it will say like 11:02 pm and when i boot into mac it will say 6:02pm. If i change the time on mac and boot back into windows the time will do the same thing except reverse win will say 6. Its crazy. Is there a fix for this?
